Hunter English(Western Guilford HS) was named to the All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference football third team today and he pulled this off as a freshman….Big year for a smaller man and he is due to join us on the Football in Focus Show tonight from the Shane’s Rib Shack, on Westover Terrace…..
English, a 5-6, 150-pound safety, led Guilford’s tacklers and ranked 13th in the ODAC with 6.5 stops per game. He made 44 solo tackles and ranked fourth in the league with 12 tackles for loss. English also forced two fumbles and broke up three passes. He twice recorded team highs in tackles, including the game versus Randolph-Macon when he made a season-best 11 tackles (7 solo). English had nine takedowns and made his first college interception against Southern Virginia.

My Man
This kid is the real deal…..He is a good one….
Hunter, I am so… proud of you!!! Your interview was terrifiic… and I know you are focused. Always remember you can go as far as you want. Love you!!!
Hunter, You have done great on and off the field! You are always polite and well mannered. Your attitude on the field is amazing. “It’s not how big the dog is that’s in the fight, it’s how much fight that’s in the dog that matters”
Good job!!! Keep it up, no telling what the future will bring.
I had the fortune of coaching Hunter when he was 9 with the Guilford Steelers. He was absolutely the toughest player I had ever coached at any age group. He never worried about his size and made people pay when they underestimated him. I am not at all surprised at what he is doing now!
Hunter keep working and good luck my man!
Way to go Hunter! Represent WG with Pride!
