When 6 feet equals 300 yards!

It looks easy at times, but they work real hard to get it done…….You get the two feet of James Summers moving, then you add in the two feet of Drew Rogers and also calibrate the footwork of Orlando Hatfield and make it a double feeture/feature and you then have six feet going to work for you and after the game is over, the six feet combined have produced over 300 yards…..That is some kind of movement…..Six feet then equals 300 yards-plus……

You get similar results when you factor in the four in the floor/field of T.J. Logan and Daniel Downing of Northern Guilford…..You put those four feet in motion and then add two from Scooter Mooney, or the two of Tre Purcell and you have hit the 300 yard mark in a hurry…..

Two feet times three, equals 6 feet giving you 300 yards real quick…..Six feet equals 300 yards of offense…..

Look at Page with Summers and Rogers from last Friday night…..Summers had 131 yards on the ground and Rogers ran for 137 yards and that equals 268 yards, no matter how you divide it up….You have to figure that Hatfield is going to give you the rest on the end-around runs and you end up with over 300 yards rushing on the night…..Shaun Workinger gave Page 26 yards on one run for a touchdown last Friday and Page ended up with 380 totals yards on the ground and four rushing TD’s….

The Pirates know how to get those feet moving and even though Northern only ran for 165 in last week’s win over Fayetteville Byrd, the Nighthawks have been running the ball with a passion, on the way to Round Four, of the 3-AA Playoffs…..You add up all that Logan and Downing have been doing and it covers a lot of ground….

Along the way in Northern’s (12-1) season, they have only had two close games….The 35-14 loss to Page, in the Nighthawks opening game of the season and then their 21-14 victory over Northwest Guilford, in a non-conference clash…..Northern has pretty much been wearing their opponents out….Their opponent this week Hunt, on the other hand, had had close games this year, with the Warriors surviving an overtime game in the playoffs and Hunt has had 31-27, 23-21, 21-14 and 37-31 games in recent weeks….The end results were all the same, Hunt enters week #15 with a perfect (13-0) record……A few teams around the state have played all 14 weeks coming into action this Friday, but most have had at least one week off in 2011…..West Stokes is one exception, they hit the field this Friday at (14-0)…..

Northern will face an experienced quarterback in Jacob Page and the backup for the Wilson Hunt Warriors is 6’7 Daniel Westbrook…..Hunt’s top player is RB Josh Joyner……

Greensboro versus Charlotte and Greensboro/Guilford County vs. Wilson this week….

Remember 6 feet equals 300 yards and PAGE may have to kick in an extra gear with their feet this week, when they face Mallard Creek…..No Turkeys on this Mallard Creek team, but some are saying that Mallard Creek is on a fast track quack attack….

The word is Mallard Creek is big, Real Big….Most of the men up front are 6’2/6’3 plus and the word is they are deep….The big word on the Big Mallard Creek DB’s is that they are all 6’2 or better and the word from down the street/highway, is that might be their strong point, the Mallard Creek defensive backs….Mallard Creek got by Matthews Butler 28-20 in the first game of the season back on August 19 and the word is, Mallard Creek does not have the passing game that Butler did, but Mallard Creek can run the ball and they will present a real nice challenge, to the Page Pirate defensive front….

Page was very tough against the run versus Butler, but the Butler strength was supposed to be their passing game and it was, until the Pirates shut that phase of the Bulldog game down and it was on to the ground for the Butler Bulldogs….Page has a very good background at stopping the run this season with their defense and especially their interior defense and it will be tested again this Friday night and in the prior contests, the Red team has passed the test part, of the con-test…Many times the defense has come through with flying colors and usually those colors are Red and Silver……

If the six feet from both of our Guilford County teams, can reach the 300 yard plateau this Friday night, then it will be on to the next level for both of our schools….

Page will face a tough team to move the ball on in Mallard Creek….They are big and it appears that their defense is their strong point…..Once Page got rolling on the run versus Matthews Butler, the Bulldogs seemed to lose their bite…..It will be time to quiet the quack attack of Mallard Creek come Friday night, at Marion Kirby Stadium…..Mallard Creek seems to be one of those immovable objects as this contest draws near, but Page will be ready to start moving Mallard and hopefully get moving on to the Final Round, when all is said and done on Friday night…..If Summers, Rogers, Hatfield and others can get those feet moving, it will be time to move on again for the Pirates….

Same thing again can be said for Northern Guilford…..If Downing and Logan, along with Mooney and another Nighthawk or two, can get those feet moving in Wilson, our 6 feet equals 300 yards theory should be proven to be correct….T.J. Logan had a huge game at Wilson Hunt last season and he will need to be ready to do it again, on runs and returns this Friday….

If our two teams are to see good returns on their invested efforts, we need to see 6 feet equals 300 yards working as a winning formula, in full force for Northern in Wilson and for PAGE in Greensboro on Friday evening…

When 6 feet equals 300 yards……I’d like to see it one more time…….
