  1. The sw boys were impressive with a double digit victory over eg..
In particular terrell leach stood out maybe the best in the county..this guy can play

  2. Why can’t you guys put info on the website about the JV games. I think fans would love to see that on your website. Thanks!

  3. Nobody but parents wants to see the jv scores. I feel your pain! We had tell our kids to work hard to make varsity so your games will be in paper and online. So tell your son to just get better and he too can play varsity. Tough love!!!

  4. If you send the scores to us they will get printed…..Just send them to the site or to andy@greensborosports.com….

We did it every week for JV Football on Thursdays and we ususally had every score….

We get the scores and they get printed…Send them our way…

  5. Wesleyan girls wn over Cannon School 38-30

Imani Atkinson-23, 10+ rebounds, Amber Hayes -9 to help lead lady Trojans to victory

Shout out to Imani for her second 23 point and 10+ rebound game

  6. It looks like the private schools are continuing to get a lot more quality players to join their rosters. Other than Paris, does Page have an quality players left. I know the one girl that graduated and went to I believe either Guilford or Greensboro College and she was one of the only good basketball players last year along with Paris. Did Imani leave because she was not starting at Page last year ? I am not connected with Page but I remember seeing them against SW in the state finals last year and it was clear to me that Imani brought good player and some serious energy to that Page team. I could not figure out why she was not starting for that team because I thought she was the 3rd best player on the team. Just wondering ????

  7. to leaving Page….Thanks for noticing Imani’s ability but no she did not leave because she did not start. We always tell Imani that it’s not how you start but how you finish and to make the most of the time she gets. Imani left because she was not working to the best of her ability in the classroom and I am happy to report that she ended 1st qtr with a 4.0 and is on track to do the same this qtr.

As far as the basketball program at Page, I will not speak on that. That is the past and Imani now has the freedom to play her game and she gets all the minutes she wants so we are extremely happy on and off the court. She’s in a great place right now and we are extremely grateful.

    Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

  8. Thanks for clearing up why Imani is at Wesleyan instead of Page. The comments about the reasons of switching her from Page to a private school setting are interesting. We optioned for a private school for our kids for very similar reasons. It is so interesting how our kids performed at a much higer level once getting into the private school setting even though the course was at a much higher level than the school they were at previously. It really shows that kids will meet the expectations of their peer group and rise to the challenge when given the opportunity. A lot of people wonder why so many of these exceptional players are leaving the public schools and going to private schools – just listen to what Imani’s mom said above. The private schools are a great setting for kids to open up and be themselves in an environment that will push and pull them upward without trying to run over them if they need help. Great for Imani and may other kids and parents see her situation as a new route that they can consider one day !

  9. Have any colleges offered Imani a scholarship yet as far as basketball goes? I believe if you are really good it does not matter where you are at. I have seen girls in this area that have played public basketball that have received scholarships and yes they could have easily been just as good as they were if they wanted to transfer but they did not and have done pretty well. Do I need to name them?

    GO NORTHERN!

  10. NG Mom….I totally agree with everything you said and no you do not need to name them as I know a few myself. That’s the power of academics….your basketball ability can get you looks and offers…it’s the academics that get you admitted to school and actually allow you to see the floor. Thankfully, I am not one of those parents that see my daughter as just a basketball player. I see her as a smart young woman who happens to play basketball who wants to have a career in the medical field. By the way, if it was all about basketball for us, Imani would have stayed at Page and played along side her AAU teammate and great friend Paris Kea. We know she will fill the gym with scouts,or we would have stayed at Dudley and played along her other great friend and AAU teammate M. Rouse who will also have scouts drooling. Everybody knows you wanna be on a team that has big time players if you can, right…again it is just about basketball and offers for basketball?

So, I hope all is going well for your child(ren) at Northern because things are exceptional for my daughter at Wesleyan and my son who is at Greensboro Day (1st grade) been there for two years.
