  1. The Lady Pirates from Page should have one of their top producers Paris Kea back in the lineup when they travel to Ragsdale on Friday…Kea plans to have any necessary surgery on her shoulder/labrum in the off-season and if there is any pain, she will play through it all in 2011/2012…..Good luck to Paris Kea and her Pirates…..That kid has a bright future in soccer or basketball…..

  2. Shayla Burnett dropped 25 points last night and now have Southern Alamance 3-0. Look out Dudley, SEG, Page and the rest of the crew. This ain’t the old Southern Alamance teams that you used to whip up on by 50 or more points. A new sheriiff is in town and her name is Shayla Burnett.

  3. Please stop with the Shay madness……as many of us watched on Saturday because most of the conference was at the Headliners Challenge. You are right it ain’t the old Southern Alamance. So instead of losing by 50 her 20 points will have you only losing my 30. Get over it!

  4. Does anyone know why Z. Lovett did not play for SWG? Was she just out for that one game?

  5. Zena Lovette will be back tomorrow for Bishop at SWG and then ready again for SWG at Eastern Guilford on Friday night…..One game suspension and back full steam for the next games…..SWG needs her and she knows that and she will be ready for Thursday and Bishop and all the Cowgirls better be….I hear this Nieters girl, just a sohpomore and right at 61 or 6’2, she is a real force for Bishop as is Sammi Goldsmith……Very big game for SWG on Thursday night coming off of a two-game losing streak…..

  6. S. Alamance will get pimp smacked just like the football team; don’t let the early season wins fool you Patriot fans. You will have to earn your stripes!

  7. Thought I heard Page Girls got beat this season pretty handily by 2A Surry Central who is usually a mediocre team in the conference with Bishop McGuinness. This may not be correct or it may have been a scrimmage or Page may have been missing significant players?

  8. You missing the big picture!!!!!! Student athlete not athlete student!!! They lost with her !!!! And what I have heard they played better in the second half. From grades to problem kid in school which goes back to middle school from what I have heard form inside sources this child never had anyone that was and is willing to lay down the rules to her. It is sad that coaches forget student first. Southwest guilford don’t need her, she needs the the education that is offered. Honestly, if I live long enough to have kids and my child could not maintain grades in school on top of always in trouble, I would not allowed mine to play. A lot of this I have to blame on the head coach because he/she is not sending a good message to the teammates and I heard the c0ach was a good coach. Also, I just was told the coach played her in games academically eligible. The coaches on this team and the AD have allowed this girl to be held to separate standards and that is sadddddddd. The parents and player on that team may not want to speak up but if you dont your promising season will be gone. Dudley does not have this problem because we hold everyone to the same standards, COACH JESSICA dont know your last name.

  9. I still say you/ve got to keep believing in the kids….Basketball is good for them and I want to see them succeed and I believe they will….They do need discipline but they need encouragement too……Hard work will drive them if they are willing to be driven….Go Cowgirls and show us something in your next game…..

  10. The comment “they lost with her” makes no sense since she wasn’t even at the game nor the comment “the coach played her in games academically eligible”. If you meant academically ineligible then whoever fed that lie to you was wrong because Coach Jessica Bryan nor the AD would have allowed her to play if her grades weren’t what they should have been. And since I have inside and first hand knowledge of what her current coach and past coaches have done when there was a problem, I can say that it was handled appropriately. Does she have things she needs to work on? Yes. Is the coach sending the wrong message to the other players by punishing her accordingly. No. Coach Bryan did the right thing. It would have been the wrong message to send if she had allowed her to play(which even if she had, I wouldn’t have let her play since I have the final say so). So wrapping up your Big Picture: Worry about what’s going on over in your neck of the woods and let me handle what’s going on over in mine. I wish every young lady out there the best this season and look forward to watching many of you play!

  11. Yes she did have to get things done over the summer so that she would be eligible but since she is able to play her being ineligible doesn’t matter anymore. And yes they lost with her at the Headliner’s Challenge, but she isn’t the team. i have never fed into that “the team needs her to win” because in my opinion, they can win without her just as well as they can win with her.

  12. Wow this a trip, Im glad my daughter goes to a school where the coach cares about GRADES the whole team gpa average 3.7.It doesn’t matter how good you are . education is very important. back in the 80’s NC state had player Chris washburn, he was AWESOME, but was dumb. They past him because he was a good ball player. Colleges look at sat, gpa and your school habits, how you study can you handle school and sports, personally I think GPA should be 2.5 to play sports…………EDUCATION FIRST

  13. This comment is to the person called “southern alamance”. Are you a true southern alamance fan or are you a “poser” trying to keep the rest of the conference hyped up to play against southern alamance? You keep calling shaylen “shayla”… all of the real southern alamance fans know this. I suspect that you are a poser and a instigator that has no affiliation with Southern alamance.

  14. I will simply say that discussion a young ladies or man”personal” situation here is not appropriate. Most of these sports players read this site and we most all be aware of and concerned about how a player will react to some of the statements made which I believe are over the line. Talk about the players game instead of their personal situation. If someone thinks a player is playing that should not be playing, then contact the Guilford Co adm but do not bring these kids down in this public format. Her mom (parents or whoever) along with her coach, school adm and teachers will help make the adjustments needed. Otherwise, our job is to enjoy whatever team is put on the floor.

Also – to “mom” if this is the girls mom, you cannot win arguing wtih people on a blog site. There are far too many people out there that simply want to get something started because they are not happy with their situation but they just want to pull other down to their low point in life. Do what is right for your kid and use your school to get your kid on track. Basketball and other sports are great motivational tools for a whole of kids (enclosing me when I was in school). I love seeing your daughter play and I hope it all works out for the best.

  15. Time to get back to the work at hand….The kids have games to play and they have work to do….They have a lot to get ready for with school, games and practice so let’s allow them to get their work done and continue to support them…..

  16. Curiousngboro

Don’t try to back out of what you all brought to the table early on concerning Southern Alamance and Burnett. We will be waiting when you come. It will be the same outcome as usual.

  17. It appears to me that the Southwest athletic department is a joke. Seriously, the football team with numerous college prospects and they only win a few games. Not to mention the problems that are mentioned above. I believe the problem starts at the top and works down. This is why I here so many athletes that are elgible to attend SW would never consider attending the program. Who cares? Probably no one. Next issue

  18. You are entitled to your opinion, you have to remember though, that the SWG girls won the State 4-A Title last year and the SWG Cowboys should contend for a championship this season…..They have some people working very hard over there at SWG, they have a brand new gym and it should be filled for most of their home conference games this season….Go check out a game and then let us hear back from you….You need to give them a chance and not go totally by what read here on this site from people that have never seen them play……Their kids are working hard just like many of the other kids in the county…..Give them a chance and that SWG boys basketball team can make some noise this season and I mean positive noise…..The Bridges brothers are great kids, I have met them and Brandon Clyburn is another kid we have had a chance to talk to over the years…..They all deserve a chance, just like any other kid in the County….
