David Amerson(Dudley HS) named Jack Tatum Award winner:Top Defensive Back in the NATION!

There has really never been anybody like Jack Tatum….When he played for Ohio State it was unreal…When he went on to play for the Oakland Raiders it was even crazier…Now David Amerson has entered the Jack Tatum neighborhood…..

Raleigh, N.C. — North Carolina State cornerback David Amerson(Dudley High School/Greensboro, N.C.) has been named the recipient of the 2011 Jack Tatum Award, which is given annually to the top defensive back in college football by The Touchdown Club of Columbus.(From www.wralsportsfan.com)

That is wild to be metntioned in the same sentence as Jack Tatum or Hacksaw Jack Reynolds or any of those defensive icons, but Jack Tatum was probalby the hardest hitting and most feared defensive back that ever lived…..

David Amerson is ‘The Man’ in 2011…..

  1. A great choice. Good example of the role that grounded parents can play in a young man’s success also. Clemson might even be 12-0 if he had gone there instead of NCSU.

  2. This is why I love this website. You research and get your facts correct for the most part. The News & Record had him winning the Jim Tatum award. That is for the top scholar atlete in the ACC and it went to Danny Coale, Wide Receiver from Virginia Tech.
Good job D.A.#1, Panther pride nation wide!!!
