Why ask this question??? It is such a hard answer. I saw the comments about the predictions above and they were all by GDS supporters so there is a bias. Nobody will really know until friday night. Last year Wesleyan beat GDS at Wesleyan and they were in control for most of the game. In that game, GDS didn’t shoot great from the three point line, both because they were just off and because Wesleyan played good D. It could easily come down to if GDS makes their threes or not. It could also come down to depth. In big games Wesleyan has tended to only play 7 or 8 guys, and GDS has the depth to play 10 or 11 so that could be a big factor. No matter the outcome, we can all be assured that each team will play the hardest they have all year.
GDS-WES:This is the ‘hype’ game of the weekend……GDS at New Garden Friends after Friday’s coming up on Saturday at 5pm….And last year. Wesleyan did win the game at WES and GDS won at GDS….How much better is Greensboro Day than last season? They have added Reggie Dillard, Julian Sampah and Montrel Goldston…..That should make them a much better defensive team overall…..WES had added Theo Pinson and Trey Chapman…..WES won last year at home with the key components being Brandon and Richmond….How much will the addition of Pinson mean to WES’s offense? Can GDS set a pace where WES can not keep up??? GDS can run it and they are very deep…..Will all of the GDS fans be able to get in the building or did the WES fans snap up all of the tickets before the Bengal fans could get their seat…..How much will the experience of the GDS coaching staff effect this game…..The players and coaches have to stay focused on this game, but it is the ‘Game of the Weekend’ and one of the biggest in the State so far this year…….The winner will get the upper hand in the PACIS Conference and not to leave out HPCA, but the Cougars have yet to beat a top-notch PACIS team this season……This is THE GAME and there are hundreds of other questions surrounding this one that we could be posting and just wonder how many college scouts will be in attendance and where they will all be coming in from…..I would have loved to have seen this game on the Greensboro Coliseum main floor on Monday, but that would take away from the WES homecourt advantage….If you are a player on either of these teams, you better be getting ready for this BIG GAME coming up Friday night at WES…….
Many, many questions to be answered at this one and none any bigger than who will get the upper hand in the GDS-WES series for 2011/2012….This is the key game for each one of these schools every year when this game rolls around again…….
Need to see the fans getting in on this one, it is going to be BIG….
Wesleyan added deshaunte carelock from Dudley too. He starts for the Trojans.
Yeah Deshaunte Carelock was a big addition but he hasn’t gotten much credit. He is only a sophomore, he starts, he is a good rebounder and defender, and he is probably their strongest player.
More coming in and I will try get them all moved over to this same spot….
Team Wesleyan allday!!! Lets Go WCA
Many more coming in and this game is starting to take on it’s own personality…
Wesleyan is very good but I would be surprised if they beat GDS.
Wesleyan by 7 points. This will be the biggest and best game in WCA history.
WCA by 12 and T. Pinson will score 25 or more. Trojans take over the PACIS with the win and will beat High Point Christian twice.
Okay so I am a WCA fan, but I am not that bold. Both GDS and HPCA are too good of teams to just hand Wesleyan the wins. I am pulling for them hard but winning all of those games will be very difficult
This conference for the Boys is the toughest conference in the state by far this year. Even the lower end teams like FCDS, can beat 80% of the public schools with ease.
This game looks like it is becoming a Duke-Carolina type game on the high school level….Wonder if any of those coaches(UNC/Duke) or their assistant coaches will be there….Guess they better get there early…A couple of years back, I used to see Roy Williams at a local game about once a week…At Dudley and then at Northern Guilford etc……Coach K from Duke was the Coliseum on MLK Day last year ;and he was checking out Quinn Cook and one of the Plumlee brothers and who knows, maybe one or the other will be there tomorrow night or on Monday at the Greensboro Coliseum….Pinson must be getting looks from all over Hairston from GDS has become a fast-riser from what I’ve been hearing…..Will it be a Who’s Who tomorrow night? Who knows??
2 still wants to Know, who wins???
Slow down B.Wilson. Slow down. Wesleyan better take care of GDS before they worry about HPCA. GDS is a better team. The Wesleyan “big 3” will all have to have huge nights to win. As far as HPCA, the team they swept Wesleyan last year wasn’t on the same planet as this year’s team. Bth are improved, but HPCA’s style of play could embarrass Wesleyan. Not man teams can run, shoot, and have size at the rim.
Talk is so worthless, only the final score can mean a thing not anybody’s words about any team. But please, all of you, continue trash talking and downplaying teams you hate, it is humoring me.
After two months of anticipation we finally have our first game involving the “Big 3” in the area. A total of six games to be played. I am looking forward to all of them. May the best teams win.
Thanks for the winning endorsement – the winning team ! This will be the first of 10 games to determine the conference MVP, all conference team, bragging rights and those so important seeding spots for the state playoffs.
Wesleyan is very good but GDS is very deep. No doubt, coaching will play a big part in this game. Should be a terrific game but I feel certain that GDS will win. Either way it is great for the community.
I wish the adults would be a little restrained. This is a game for the kids. Let’s all try to enjoy it.
Private school basketball is so good around here right now, they need to be proactive and start moving these games to buildings that can handle the crowds, most of the private schools have small gyms and when there big games come around the community cannot even get in to see them. This is sad that no one is doing something about this and many people will show up at the game tonite to just be turned away.
GDS by by at least 6, possible blow out. Wesleyan is fools gold.
The answer is not in Wesleyan star players but will they get help from Trey, Deshante and Josh? These three took over the game in Virginia and help beat the number 2 team in Virginia last week. If Wesleyan star players think they are really the stars of the team and try to do it by themselves like they did in the championship game at Ravencroft then they will lose by 20. But if they make sure these other players get touches then they can win by 10.
Greensboro Day is deeper than Wesleyan but Wesleyan is a little more talented. I do believe GDS is better coached and this could make the difference. If you have notice GDS scoring over this year, they have taken advantage of the teams they play. If they play teams with good guard play then Quay and Julian have a big night. If they play a team with bad perimeter defense then Reed, Jaylan, JT and Christian have big nights. They are also disciplined on the defensive end and if Wesleyan thinks they will have Brandon or Richmond go down the middle and get to the basket it will be a long night. But if Wesleyan move the ball from side to side and inside out. This gives everyone touches and this shifts the defense. We will see..I will say Wesleyan wins in triple overtime since they are at home. That place is like a mini Cameron Crazies. Not sure because Coach Freddy is possessed with beating Wesleyan this year because of the lost last year. Please also remember these two teams are also fighting for the recruitment of talent in Greensboro. Public school talent seems to go where the winners are at so who wins the series this year may also when the public school recruiting battle.
a FAKE Dale Fulton? Really? Posing as a GDS fan but seems to have seen every Wesleyan game…including one in Virginia. Come on now, this stuff is ridiculous.
It will be a live atmosphere as all the games will be with the top 3 (GDS, Wesleyan, and HPCA), but in the end the best team will win. GDS is probably the better team, may struggle with the athleticism. Wesleyan is athletic, but seem to struggle with teams that are well coached with a little talent. Depth will be an issue for Wesleyan, because depth isn’t depth unless there isn’t a dropoff and you can afford to sit your best players. Wesleyan coaches and players were talking all summer, tweeting all fall, and basking in glory before the season ever started. It is time for them to put up or shut up. I pick GDS by 11. 74-63. Wesleyan could win it, don’t know if they have the intangibles to pull it off, specifically coaching. They have some very talented kids though, no question,
I agree Dale Fulton or anyone posing as him is ridiculous.
Most posts are pretty ridiculous on this board anyway.
Last years conference finishes:
1st – GDS
2nd – Forsyth Country Day
3rd – HP Christian
4th – Wesleyan
5th – Calvary
The game tonight will be really good. We are fortunate to have many good players in our area. Wesleyan added 5 transfers as varsity players this year so I would be SHOCKED if they finished 4th again. It will be a great atmosphere for all the kids involved tonight for both teams, win or lose, play or do not play.
Lot’s of good basketball tonight in both private school and public school.
Looks like the talk coming up after the game may be as good, if not better, than the talk coming up before the game….Lots of interest in the games tonight…
Don’t forget that DUDLEY plays Grimsley tonight and be sure to get your tickets early because it is one of the hottest tickets in town. We have college recruit Sam Hunt whom already have many college offers on the table as a junior. He recently dropped 42 points in a game. No one has done that around here. He also dropped 36 on University of North Carolina. Don’t missed this highly intense game with scouts drooling to come watch. Legedary Coach Price has put many in college Graves, Harriston, Haywood, Whitt, Chavis, Johnson ect….
GDS…GDS..GDS…GDS…GDS..GDS…GDS…GDS..GDS…GDS…GDS..GDS… Victory!!
