Greensboro College Women’s Basketball Swats Hornets in 79-67 Victory

Danielle Duncan scored a game high 22 points as the women’s basketball team beat Shenandoah, 79-67, on the road Saturday afternoon. The Pride move to 11-3 on the season and remain in the third spot in the conference at 7-2.

Duncan gave The Pride the first lead of the game at 2-0 and Greensboro only trailed once, 5-4, and controlled most of the game. Hannah Holm hit a jump shot at the 11:19 mark to give The Pride a 10 point lead, and though Shenandoah chipped away at the lead, it never got closer than six. Chevana Pickard hit a lay-up with a little over a minute left to give The Pride another 10 point lead, but the Hornets hit two straight to cut the half-time lead to 36-30.

Greensboro started off the second half hot, scoring the first nine points and led by double digits for the remainder of the game. Fourteen players saw action for head coach Randy Tuggle and nine contributed to the final score.

In addition to Duncan’s 22, Andrienne Terrell score 11 and Pickard chipped in with 10. Alicia Burr was the leading scorer of the bench with seven. Bianca Richburg had a team high nine rebounds, Duncan grabbed eight, and Hillary Cook came off the bench to tally six.

The Pride will be back in action next week as they host Methodist on Tuesday, January 24 at 7:00 p.m.
