The #1 Glenn Bobcats came to Southwest to take on the Cowboys. The first time these two battled it was a heavy weight bout. The way the game started out it looked like the Cowboys landed a knockout as the hot shooting Cowboys got up quickly 7-0, and kept the gas down as they pushed it out to 24-10 after the first. But the Bobcats had plenty of fight left as they came out in the second frame using a 10-1 run to cut it to 25-20. Each team traded blows the rest of the frame and Glenn even tied it up at 34 with 1:56 to play. The cowboys used a strong 7-2 run with a quarter ending 3 point play to take it to the locker rooms at 43-36 in favor of the hosts. The dog fight continued in the second half as Glenn once again responded and fought back in a slower defensive battle with the Bobcats winning the frame but SW still held a 57-52 lead. The final period had enough drama for a TNT episode. Right away the Bobcats came storming back again making it 59-57 at the 7:09 mark. Southwest responded with a pair of free throws and then both teams struggled to get anything as the defense picked up in intensity. At the 3:45 mark a huge 3 cut it to 61-60, but again the Cowboys were able to get 2 more free throws. Yet again another basket by Glenn made it 63-62 at 2:58. 20 seconds later a huge basket made it 65-62. Then a huge steal and dunk by Braxton Daye pushed it to 67-62 with 2:07 to play. The Cowboys tried to pull it out but once again a huge 4 point spurt by Glenn made it 67-66 with 1:25 to play. The teams traded baskets again and with the score 69-68 at 32 seconds to play, several offensive tips finally came to fruition as it went down to put the game at 71-68. A missed free throw by the Bobcats and two clutch makes by SW sealed the hard fought victory at 73-69. Glenn was lead by Trey Lofton (20), Matt Hodges (14) and Zane Waterman (12). Southwest was lead by Braxton Daye (18), Jordan Hanner (15), Ray Bridges (12), and Brandon Clyburn (12).
