Guilford Women’s Basketball Powers Past Randolph, 64-45

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Sophomore Gabby Oglesby tallied seven points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and blocked six shots in Guilford College’s 64-45 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) basketball win over Randolph College Tuesday evening. The win was the 15th in the last 16 games for the Quakers.

Oglesby, along with teammates Morgan King (12 points) and Brittany Drew (nine points) led a balanced offensive effort for the Quakers (15-3, 12-1 ODAC). Guilford had eight players score five or more points on the evening to remain at the top of the ODAC standings, percentage points ahead of Eastern Mennonite (13-2 ODAC) and Virginia Wesleyan (11-2 ODAC).

Guilford’s Logan Hardin came off the bench to corral a game-high 12 rebounds to go along with her six points. A strong defensive effort by the Quakers held the Wildcats (3-16, 0-14 ODAC) to 26.3 percent field-goal shooting for the game.

Randolph scored the first six points of the game on a pair of three-pointers before Guilford got on the scoreboard. The Quakers responded scoring nine of the next 11 points to take the lead back. The Wildcats kept the game close through the first 12 minutes of the game until back-to-back jump shots from Guilford’s Jaclyn Nucci ignigted a 16-6 run end the first half and give the Quakers a 29-17 advantage.

The lead ballooned to 23 points in the second half as the Quakers shot 42.9 percent from the field in the second stanza.

Randolph’s Chelsea Tyler led the Wildcats with a game-high 15 points, and teammate Briana Lowry added 10 points and a team-high five rebounds in the losing effort.

The Quakers hit the road for a crucial pair of ODAC games this weekend. Guilford takes on Randolph-Macon Friday evening (2/3) at 7:00 p.m. and Virginia Wesleyan Saturday afternoon (2/4) in a 4:00 p.m. game.
