High Point Christian’s Aaron Quate(football) headed to Guilford College

HIGH POINT CHRISTIAN’S AARON QUATE CHOOSES GUILFORD COLLEGE

This week, Aaron Quate became the second High Point Christian Academy football player to decide on where he will continue his playing career by selecting Guilford College. “I am excited to have the opportunity to continue to play football at Guilford College,” Quate commented. He chose Guilford because of its outstanding academic programs, its bucolic campus and his level of comfort with the coaching staff led by second year Head Coach Chris Rusciewicz.

Aaron Quate earned MVP honors for HPCA during his outstanding junior year following that effort up with a productive senior campaign. Quate led the team in interceptions and was second in tackles, operating from his hybrid linebacker/defensive back position. He also played four positions in HPCA’s multi-formational offense. On a night most only dream about, Aaron helped the Cougars defeat Forsyth Country Day School during last October’s homecoming game by intercepting two passes and capping it off by being named Homecoming King.
HPCA Head Coach Steve Lechner said that “Aaron Quate is the epitome of hard work and steady leadership.” Quate also is an outstanding student who is a member of the National Honor Society. Lechner pointed out that “HPCA focuses on the overall development of the student-athlete and Aaron is a terrific example of this well-rounded ideal.”

Guilford College is a co-education college located in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Quakers play at the NCAA’s Division III level as a member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. Interestingly, three of HPCA’s football coaches played football at Guilford with JV Head Coach Lamar Boykin still holding the school record for most career interceptions. High Point Christian Academy looks forward to at least one more senior football player committing to play collegiately in the near future. According to Coach Lechner, “College programs can see that we have high quality, well-coached players who are also great students and solid citizens off the field.”
