NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced today that the Elon women’s cross country team has earned 2011 Division I All-Academic Cross Country status.
The Elon women eared a 3.54 GPA this past fall and hold the second highest GPA among the Southern Conference women’s cross country programs. Elon is one of eight SoCon schools to receive the honor this year. Appalachian State, Chattanooga, College of Charleston, Furman, Samford, UNCG and Western Carolina were also selected as all-academic teams.
A total of 205 women’s Division I programs earned All-Academic Cross Country status. To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five runners at their respective NCAA regional championship.
