GC Baseball Opens Conference Season With Two Wins

The Pride swept the Methodist Monarchs to open conference play, winning Game 1 by a score of 4-2 and finishing the late game with a 6-4 victory. Greensboro starts perfect in conference play and has won six of their last seven games.

Greensboro got off to a good start in Game 1, with James Feldman coming across in the second and Michael Cobb scoring in the third after walking and stealing second. The Monarchs countered with two in the fourth, but the pitching of John Atkins kept The Pride in the game until the found their stroke at the plate.

Austin Catherina got things started for Greensboro in the seventh inning, singling just past a diving second baseman. Catherina scored on a Matthew Parker double to give The Pride a 3-2 lead and Steven Pfieffer doubled to center, bringing in Parker.
