Great game between Northern Guilford & Eastern Alamance!
Sean Mas (WP) 4H, 2ER, 5K over 4 IP; Austin Coltrane (S) closed the game w 3IP, 1H, 4K.
Zack Littel (LP) pitched a good game as well, giving up 3 ER on 6H with 9Ks over 4.2 innings.
NG took a 1-0 lead in top of 1st after DC Arendas walked then scored on an error by EA’s right fielder off the bat of Trip Dunn.
EA tied it in the bottom of the 1st after Jake Wood led off with a double and scored on a single by Littel. EA took a 2-1 lead in the third when Littel tripled home Nick Monroe who reached on a FC. With one out, Mas struck out the next two batters to end the inning.
NG tied the game in the 4th on a 2 out single by Ryan Dirks that plated Coltrane. NG then took the lead in the 5th after Matt Page drew a leadoff walk and scored on a Mas triple, then Arendas followed with an RBI single.
NG: Mas (triple, RBI), Arendas (2 singles, RBI), Cotrane (2 singles), Dirks (single, RBI)
EA: Wood (double, single), Littel (triple, single, 2RBI), Waters (single)
McMichael/Williams game becomes a pitchers duel between Gore and Sharpe and Shreve seals the deal with a 2 out 2 strike rip down the first baseline to bring home the winning run.

Another one run heartbreaker for Grimsley last night. Soph Kyle Smith pitched an outstanding game to hold Western to four runs! Junior Cole Leonard drove in two runs. Go ahead run for Grimsley was thrown out at home in a close play in the bottom of the sixth. Grimsley is a scrappy team that would be 2 and 1 if not for one play or one break here or there but that is just baseball boys. Looking forward to DJ getting back in the action soon. Keep battling boys and the breaks will come!
I know I am posting this from the Grimsley perspective but congrats to Western and Nino Marrero who did exactly what they needed to do to get the win last night.
Oh and for the dude who is overly sensitive to this Grimsley lost 3-4 last night.

Nope didn’t intend to take anything away from SEG. SE has an outstanding team this year. Great offense. Outstanding pitching. Should make a strong run for the state championship this year. They beat us 0 to 15 in a one hitter. Just to clarify I was talking about the one run Western and Eastern games…my friend.
