GC Men’s Golf Wrap’s up Spring Opener in Fourth at Huntingdon Invitational

The Pride men’s golf team finished its two day spring opener at Huntingdon in fourth place among nine teams. Greensboro finished day two with a combined team score of 309, six strokes better than its day one score of 315.

Joshua Hudgins turned in the top individual performance for The Pride, finishing in a tie for ninth place. Hudgins dropped four strokes from his first day total, shooting a 74, to finish with a 152.

Ben Nihart followed with a Tuesday round of 76 to place in a tie for 13th with an overall score of 154. Kirk Mitchell also cracked the top 25 in a tie for 22nd at 159 (79-80).

Rounding out the bunch for Greensboro were Nick Peoples at 162 (80-82) and Brian Critzer at 165 (86-79).

Olgethorpe earned the team title, with an overall team score of 606 (304-302). Methodist followed in second at 606 (297-309) with host Huntingdon rounding out the top three at 616 (310-306).

Winning the individual championship was Sam Strachan of Huntingdon with a two-day score of 147 (77-70). The tournament was played at the Wynlakes Golf & Country Club in Montgomery, AL.

The Pride will return to the course on March 16 at the Jekyll Collegiate.
