Shake Up In Triad/Triangle Radio

This afternoon, “Brad and Britt” announced via a You-Tube video (below), that they were moving to Afternoons at WSJS immediately.

Looks like WSJS will be JR Synder, Dennis Miller, Dave Ramsey and “Brad and Britt”.

Even more confusing is the mess in Raleigh as WKIX 850 AM will be known as Talkradio 850 WPTF and WPFT 680 AM will be known as NewsRadio 680 WPTF.

The writing on the Press Release was a bad as my writing here and was all over the place with stations and programs jumping from paragraph to paragraph. A lot of syndicated shows are gone, including: Michael Savage, Alan Colmes and Phil Hendrie as is local talker Allan Handleman.

As for the future of WZTK 101.1 FM – Si habla espanole? Although one person pointed out that Sports Talk might be a better option. There are thousands of options out there to listen to what you enjoy. Looks like owning a radio station isn’t as fun as it used to be.

  1. I am extremely surprised by these changes. If you listened to Brad & Brit or Allan Handleman, both of them claimed that their shows were near the top of the local talk radio ratings. I thought both had solid audiences. I agree it would be nice to have a local/region sport program for the triad but I hate potentially losing talk shows like the Brad & Brit or Allan Handleman shows.

  2. Brad and Britt should make the move to 94.5 WPTI and they should keep them in the mornings…..Would be a boost for 94.5 since their morning show is coming in here out of Raleigh….Brad and Britt, Beck, Rush and Hannity….Why not????

  3. well that stinks. I enjoyed listening to Brad and Britt in the mornings and Handleman in the evenings on my long commute to and from work.

Guess I’ll go back to cranking out tunes on my ipod.

  4. It looks like the mighty dollar won again. 101.1 is now some 102 something with hits all the time and no talk, or so they say. Back to the dollar, 94.5 must have been kicking threir rears in the numbers game. The radio bizz is notoriously ruthless, as Andy knows, and nothing seems to surprise me in that regard. ESPN radio seems to have sports talk sewn up, due to their $$$$ strength and their programming. Stay tuned, as they say. It will change again-when is the question.5mv4

  5. I would bet my mortgage that a lot of the quick changes occurred due to many national adversiters demanding that all of their ads on radio be removed from all Right Wing hosted shows. 101.1 had a lot of right wing shows within its programming. The Brad & Brit and Allan shows were the few exceptions. Losing all of those ad dollars would have put that station out of business. You can read the memo released to all Premiere Networks stations on 3/12. I am happy to final see that ad companies and their partners are starting to final take a stand against these racist right wing host that do nothing but divide the country. This is why I refused to listen to stations like 600am, 680am, 106.1fm, 94.5fm or any stations carrying the Rush show specifically for the past 7 or so years. What people like Rush say on the radio says interesting at times but they are just racist/nazi at the heart of their meaning. Maybe this country can get back to what we fortunately continue to have in sports which appears to be fair and accepting to all parties.
