‘Between the Lines’ with High School Basebal Tonight

*****Add this one in…Just in from the pen:Burlington Williams @ Western Alamance*****Also today we have Western Guilford(4-2/3-0) at Southern Alamance 7pm….

Southeast Guilford(4-0) at Dudley(3-0)….Kimber should be rested and ready for Dudley…Newton went last Friday night and was very impressive for SEG…Tonight, maybe Craig Jacobelli or Austin Bain?? Very big game, as both teams have already beaten contender Southern Alamance….7pm

Northwest Guilford(2-2) at Ragsdale(4-0)…NWG has Keaton Haack available and he is very strong on the mound…Ragsdale at (4-0) will receive a very stiff test today when they face the NWG Vikings….7pm

Southwest Guilford(5-0) at Glenn(4-2)….SWG can really start to assert themselves, if they can win on the road in Kernersville, against a very versatile Glenn Bobcat ballclub…SWG will have to look toward Andrew Madden or Kyle Miller tonight, as Sean Geoghean got the start and the win over NWG back on Friday and Matt Orth has tendonitis in his arm….6pm

McMichael(3-0) at Northern Guilford(3-3)….NG goes from meeting the powerhouse of West Forsyth on Monday, to jumping into the Conference frying pan, as they will be hosting/facing the state’s #7 ranked 3-A team today, when the Phoenix come out to Spencer-Dixon Road….Not sure, but maybe Kaplan for NG?…6pm

High Point Christian at Caldwell Academy….6pm When the HPCA Cougars battle the Caldwell Eagles, always competitive games and Caldwell is as good as any team that you will find in our area…When that Richie Sanfilippo kid is pitching they will always be in those games and they have other talent too…Not sure about HPCA this year, but Evan(Tiger) Miller is supposed to be over there with the Cougars…

Rockingham County at Eastern Guilford…7pm The Wildcats dropped a tough one at Northern last Friday night and now must re-group and it might be time for Corey McDaniel to get back out there on the mound….

WS Parkland at High Point Central…6pm This game belongs to the HP Central Bison and they could go with Josh Wilson today and have a very good shot to get the win….I wonder what ever happened to that little kid who lived across the street from the school and used to be the bat boy for Central…Wonder if he ever grew up and joined the team as a player??? Kendrick Davis has sure grown up and he is making his dad Shawn/Sean very proud….Will Johnson needs his bat to light up again today…..Tyler Wilson has been playing steady ball too for HPC, along with Trevor Gay, Hanson Butler and others…

Page at Smith….5pm Very early start here with no JV game set…JB Baynes is doing all he can to try and re-build the Smith Golden Eagle program, but Page will present a problem with Nic Schofield, Jordan Putnam, Carter Stanley and Shaun Workinger all working real hard for Page…If Page wins today, that should push their overall record to (5-2)…..

Morehead at Eastern Alamance…7pm Eastern is a major contender in that stout Mid-State 3-A Conference and with the kid we have heard so much about, Nic Monroe ready to go, this could be the ‘Big Show’ for EA…We shall see….

*****Also around the area today it will be Randleman at Asheboro(5pm), Bishop McGuinness at West Stokes(6:30pm) and Graham at Providence Grove(7pm)….

  1. Rod you are absloutely right about that…..Didn’t see that one on the list and we will add in…Thanks…..

  2. The Williams at Western game is a huge game indeed. Think im going to give the edge to the bulldogs tonight. Im sure they will throw the crafty lefty and they wont be facing Huffman. The biggest reason I pick the bulldogs is because of their new pitching coach. I don’t know who he is but he does a great job calling the pitches for his guys. Should be a good battle

  3. Western will be tough. They have a ton of seniors. I’ll say Western wins 4-2. Mcmichael beats Northern 5-4. Eastern Alamance beats Morehead 9-6 and in the battle for last, I’ll take Eastern Guilford over Rockingham 6-3.

  4. McMichael 5, Northern Guilford 3
WP – Jeff Harris; LP – Sean Mas

NG outhits MM (6 to 4) but commits 5 errors that leads to 4 unearned runs.
    Mas – 6 IP, 1 ER. Austin Coltrane pitched the 7th (2K, 0 ER, 0 H).
Harris – 5-2/3 IP (5H, 5K). Dylan Gore came on to get the last 4 outs and pickup the Save.

Down 5-0 in the 6th, NG got back-to-back singles from Mas and Trip Dunn to start the inning. Then with 2-outs, Coltrane hit a 3-run bomb to CF to cut the MM lead to 5-3. NG then made things interesting in the 7th, when DC Arendas had a 1-out single to right and Mas followed with a walk. Dunn then hit a shot right back at the pitcher that was caught and Luke Nelson lined out to LF to end the game. Arendas had 2 singles and Coltrane was 2-for-3 (Single, HR, 3 RBI).

For MM, Bump Martin reached base all 4 times (2 singles, ROE, BB, 2R, SB). Lucas Martin doubled in the 1st to drive in a run and Harris picked up the only other MM hit.
