‘Between the Lines with High School Baseball Tonight(We Welcome Upper St. Clair, PA to the Piedmont/Triad!)

Dudley at Grimsley with completion of suspended game from last Friday night and Dudley is up 9-6 in the bottom of the 5th inning, after a home run to left field by Greg White…..Looking now at a start time of around 5:30……

Westchester vs. Wesleyan at BB&T Field….5pm This is the one that we were told earlier in the week would be in Winston-Salem at BB&T Field and let’s see if that rings true….

Southeast Guilford at Southern Alamance 7pm….This always a very tough game for SEG at the Patriots and we shall see if maybe the start of Dallas Newton can carry the Falcons tonight….At this stage of the season, the Falcons need a leader to step up, or step out and lead the charge….Last year SEG had Josh Tobias in that role and now they need somebody to step up and take the bull by the horns and ride this thing out to the finish….Josh is gone and he has gone on to do pretty good for himself, with the batting average now up at .250 and starts in right at 20 of 22 games for the Florida Gators….Not bad at all for a freshman, starting for the Top-Ranked college team in the nation….SEG needs that leader this year and we will soon find out who it is going to be, or who it won’t be….I have a feeling that somebody is about to step up….

McMichael at Burlington Williams 7pm…McMichael is (9-1) overall and ranked 7th in the state, in the Impact Basebal Poll for 3-A teams and they face a very tough challenge tonight at Williams…Wonder if Landon Biggs is ready? Dylan Gore bore the brunt of the work last night, at Eastern Guilford….They have a kid named Bump playing at second base and it brings back memories of Maury Wills’ son Bump, from back in the day…..Gore, Biggs, Bump and the kid Jeffrey Harris, the Phoenix have some pop and the BW Bulldogs will try and stop that ‘Pop’ tonight…..

Upper St. Clair, PA is playing Brush, Ohio over at WS Reynolds tonight and they also have a game scheduled against WS Reynolds while they are in the Triad for ‘Spring Break’……

  1. The 1st baseman for Upper St. Claire is a beast. Hit 2 HR’s against Ragsdale last night and to be honest I was concerned for the safety of Ragsdale’s infield when he was up to bat. He has forearms as big as most legs. Probably see this kid playing Division 1 somewhere next year.

  2. Actually Andy, Josh was starting third baseman for Florida. He was injured a couple nights ago and I am not sure what his status is now. Pretty impressive to jump in the lineup as a freshman on the #1 team in the nation. Hope he heals soon.
