Oram Sets Elon 5,000m Record in Day One of Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Elon track and field team returned to action today, March 30, at the Raleigh Relays on the campus of North Carolina State University.

Allyson Oram set the new Elon record in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:04.29 for eighth in section two. In section three, Morgan Denecke claimed 19th after running in 18:12.24 and Haylee Dawe took 27th in section four with a time of 19:28.98. Kaitlin Stober clocked a time of 19:02.88 that placed her 12th in section five, while Katelyn O’Dunne posted a 19:59.86 for 27th.

Louise Prevoteau tied for the top prize in section two of the long jump with a leap of 18’3”. The freshman also posted a time of 15.25 for 32nd in the 100-meter hurdles.

Amy Salek took fourth out of 120 runners in the 400-meter dash with a time of 54.70. Bria Bell finished 23rd in 56.48 and Jackie Madden clocked a time of 1:01.49 for 93rd.

In the 100-meter dash preliminaries, Dana Cataldo finished 38th with a time of 12.45, followed by Kayleigh Birks in 43rd (12.70) and Cara Hughes in 57th (13.07).

Emily Tryon posted the best time for the Phoenix in the 1,500-meter run in section four with a time of 4:51.32 for 15th. In sections five through eight, Brennan McDavid and Christine Pacewicz finished 16th and 17th, respectively, with times of 4:53.01 and 4:53.23. Jenny Gallagher (46th) clocked a 5:11.21 and Kylie Womack (54th) finished in 5:24.30.

Charlise Morgan and Alyssa Girvin finished 20th and 41st in the discus with throws of 127’ and 102’7”. Morgan also took 15th in the shot put with a toss of 41’5.75”.

Elon will continue in the final day of competition at the Raleigh Relays tomorrow, March 31.
