GC Men’s Lacrosse Overwhelmes St. Vincent, 12-3

The Greensboro College men’s lacrosse team reached the .500 mark with a 12-3 road victory over St. Vincent on Saturday. The Pride are now 6-6 on the season after winning three of four games.

Thomas Brooks, Max Aiken and Bill Blakely all found net in the first period as Greensboro jumped out to a 3-1 advantage after one period of play. St. Vincent cut the gap to 3-2 early in the second before Ryan McNamara scored twice, both times assisted by Brooks. After the Bearcats added their final goal of the day, Blakely and Alexander Vanderhoff each notched a goal to send the game into half with The Pride on top 7-3.

Greensboro shut out St. Vincent in the second half, while tacking on five more goals to pull away for the 12-3 victory.

The Pride had 41 total shots on the day, 22 of which came on goal. Greensboro also picked up 32 ground balls and converted 24-26 clear attempts. Blakely and Scott Showalter each recorded man-up goals, both of which came in the fourth period.

Blakely led the scoring attack with three goals while McNamara finished with two. Seven other players found the scoring column on the day for The Pride. Mitchell Kanowicz pieced together a solid performance in net with 17 saves.

The Pride will be back on the field on Wednesday evening at Guilford. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
