GREENSBORO, N.C. — Guilford College’s men’s golf team fell to second place in the latest NCAA Division III Golf World/Nike Golf and Golf Coaches Association of America Coaches’ Poll released Thursday. The Quakers earned three first-place votes, but fell a spot behind top-ranked Methodist University, who garnered 13 of 16 first-place votes. Illinois Wesleyan University fell to the third overall ranking. The University of Redlands and the University of Texas at Tyler round out the top five.
Guilford is ranked third in the Apr. 16 Golfstat.com NCAA Division III Relative Rankings. The Quakers trail top-ranked Methodist and second-ranked Texas-Tyler in those ratings.
The Quakers have four wins for the season and finished seventh in their most recent tournament, the Emory Spring Invitational Apr. 9-10. Guilford currently has three students ranked among the top 75 Division III players according to Golfstat.com’s Head-to-Head Player Standings, including top-ranked Noah Ratner (Asheville, N.C./Asheville), who has won four medalist honors this season, tying the school record.
