Guilford Softball Preps For Relay for Life Event

GREENSBORO, N.C. –Guilford College’s softball team will partner with the American Cancer Society to host a Relay for Life event Friday, April 13 (rain or shine) from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. at the Armfield Athletic Center on Guilford’s campus. The event aims to raise funds for cancer research and features entertainment and games, in addition to a walking track where participants will walk to remember that cancer never sleeps.

Coach Dennis Shores’ squad has previously held ‘Score for the Cure’ games to fight breast cancer and in 2011 extended the call to other softball teams to host similar contests. This year’s Relay for Life event looks to fight not only breast cancer, but all cancer.

Groups and individuals from the Guilford and greater Greensboro communities are invited to participate in this fund-raising effort. Teams of walkers will gather at the Armfield Athletic Center and take turns walking laps around the field. Groups and individuals from the community are welcome to form or join teams of any size to raise support and awareness for this event.

Caregivers and cancer survivors are also invited and will be recognized during the event. Individual donations and corporate sponsorships are also encouraged.
