from Bill Hass with Bill on Baseball at www.gsohoppers.com:

The Hoppers polished off their first home stand of the season by beating Lakewood 5-1 Wednesday afternoon, pushing their record to 5-2. They won three of four from Lexington and two of three from Lakewood.

“If we could go 5-2 on every home stand, I’d be ecstatic,” said manager David Berg.

Now the team heads out on a seven-game road trip, opening a four-game series at Delmarva Thursday night and following with three more at Lakewood.

“I’m glad we started out at home,” Berg said. “We got to get established as far as apartments and getting comfortable in the clubhouse. Now we go on the road and when we get back our stuff is already set up. I’d rather start (the season) at home. We’re all settled and ready to go.”
