NewBridge Invitational Baseball Tournament TONIGHT at NewBridge Bank Park….SEG, NG, Dudley and Randleman….Dudley vs. Northern Guilford 5pm(Third Place Game)….Southeast Guilford vs. Randleman 7:30pm(Championship Game)

You can hear the games can heard on AM950 radio and also on 97.7FM throughout the ballpark, with video/audio stream available when you CLICK ON the 2012 Greensboro Grasshoppers Broadcast link at the top of the home page, here at the Greensborosports.com site….

Today you have the Championship Game(7:30pm) and it will be preceeded by the Third Place(5pm), in the NewBridge Invitational….

Tickets are just $5.00 per day and that $5.00 ticket allows you to see both games today….

SEG could well be going with Craig Jacobelli tonight on the mound and Randleman got a super effort from Tyler Walls(6K’S) and Dylan Richardson(8K’s) on Friday and the word is, that Randleman has another ace on their staff that we should see tonight….This ought to be a great Championship Game with the 2011 State 2-A Champs in Randleman(16-1) vs. one of last year’s Final Four participants on the 4-A level in Southeast(15-1) and there you go….SEG got help from everyone last night and they needed it to pull out that hard-earned win over Northern Guilford….Butler with the game-winning run, two runs scored and a solid starting pitching effort by Dallas Newton and then 2 RBI’s from Justin Reece, plus a strong job turned in behind the plate by Brent Frazier and Callahan at first, Ezzell at third, and Jacobelli who made several fine catches in left field and Tim Amick who handled work in center and right and got a couple of key hits and Tyrone Woolard who started in right and then drew a key walk late in the game, plus the strong pitching from Austin Bain and really a super relief effort by Will Greene last night, to get the win for SEG…Greene exceeded all expectations and got better the longer he was in the game….

SEG will have their hands full with Randleman tonight..The Tigers have no easy outs, as you go top to bottom in their lineup and their catcher Albertson was very steady behind the plate last night…..This ought to be the ‘Game of the Week’ by far and who knows, going in this might be a candidate for ‘Game of the Year’……

Again a great team effort by Northern Guilford in their loss to SEG on Friday night, in that game that went 9 innings and in a game like that there are really no losers, just a well-played game all the way around and a credit to both squads and their coaching staffs, as those kids came to play from sides last night…..Hate to see it all end on the miscue by Arendas at short, but sometimes that is how it goes in a well-played game, it will end on something crazy like that…..Kaplan will have people talking for a long time about the fine job the kid(Junior) turned in on the hill, for NG on Friday night…The kid looks about as lean as a dishrag, but he knows how to bring his pitches from the left side and his slow stuff is very hard to hit…Good hitting for NG from Nelson, Dunn, Coltrane and others and a hard day’s/night’s work turned in by Sean Mas….He quieted the storm and allowed the Nighthawks to stay in/still be in the game, in the late innings……

Corey Kimber with nine strikeouts for Dudley on Friday afternoon and he did allow a rare 6 hits, but that just goes to show you how tough that Randleman Tiger bunch is…..Dudley got most of their hitting done at the bottom of their batting order with Majak, Burch and Williamson coming up big down around 7, 8, and 9 in the Panthers’ order…Dudley got great defense from KJ McCallister at SS and the Panthers also came up with at least two-three super catches in left field and in right to stave off several Randleman Tiger charges…Maybe Murphy on at least one of those key stops……

For today(Saturday) maybe Dudley looks to McCallister and Northern goes with Dirks, we will have to wait and see….Used to be some real good games with NG and Dudley, back when they were both 3-A schools….I remember one Friday night at Northern when it was really tight and the game went down to the wire and the fans were so into that game, that nobody wanted to go home when it was over……Maybe we can get that rivalry going again, for at least one day in today’s Game One at NewBridge Bank Park…..

Looking forward to the Saturday action with:
Dudley vs. Northern Guilford 5pm
Southeast Guilford vs. Randleman 7:30pm
