HR:Lopaka Sigler in the top of the 9th to the right field corner and gone and that proved to be the game winning run…Word was it was only about the 4 or 5th at-bat for Sigler this year and he was pinch-hitting for Keegan Hufham at the time….Great game turned in by both teams and it was Grimsley taking it in extra innings for only the third win of the season for the Whirlies…..Very strong relief work for Seth O’Fallon in for DJ Reader to get the win and Adam Foster was tough all night long, he just left up around the plate and Lopaka tagged it…Also for Grimsley, they got a single and a double from Seth O’Fallon….Reid Flippin had a key hit for Western Guilford….

  1. Wow. Outstanding game by both sides. Foster pitched a great game. How many times were men in scoring position? Solid defense on both sides. There were some ESPN worthy catches in the outfield and solid fundamental plays in the infield. Marrerro (sp?) made a fantastic diving catch.

DJ and Seth had beyond solid performances. This just proves what a great game baseball is. At anytime anyone can step up and be the hero.

Western is a class team with very good players and great coaches. They will bounce back and should go far in the playoffs.

Just for the record I only had one delicious hamburger tonight…unreal restraint. Actually the game was so exciting I couldn’t get back over for fear of missing the game winning play for either side.

  2. NWG: 5
    Randleman: 1

WP: Jesse Juday (4-2) Complete Game
Great game tonight against two good ball clubs. Sophomore Jesse Juday has had to step up to take place of Adam Swim who is injured. Juday went the whole game striking out 11, walking 2, hitting 1 batsman, allowing 5 hits, and 1 earned run. At the plate for the Vikings Marcus Shoemaker went 2-4 scoring twice, Jackson Bellenkes was 2-3 in key at bats, Keaton Haack 1-3, Greyson Evans 1-3, Matt Bond 1-3, and Jesse Juday 1-3 with a double.

  3. Don’t worry Gfan. We will have plenty of hamburgers for you next week down the road just off hwy 421 at the Metro conference tourney! We expect you to help out the fundraising effort!

  4. I think I still remember how to get there but thanks for the directions. 🙂

You know I will do my part to contribute next week and during the playoffs.

  5. Matt Dale for SWG had a no hitter thru 5 and only allowed 2 hits thru 7. Well played game by both sides.

  6. SE JV News –

    Wednesday 4/25 – SE 5 and Southwest 4

Christian Banda with a game tying RBI triple in the bottom of the 7th Wednesday night against Southwest. Then he scores the game winning run on a superman slide after a passed ball gets to the backstop. Bailey Steed gets the win.

    Tuesday 4/24 – SE 11 and Western Guilford 1
Christrian Banda gets the win and Josh Blackwell has a HR for SE

    Friday 4/20 – SE 14 and Ragsdale 1
Cameron Gardner pitches a no hitter!

  7. Eastern Guilford 14 – Rockingham 0
Adam Gunn (WP) pitched a 5 inning no hitter for the Wildcats. The bats were moving for the ‘Cats as Gunn, Hunt, Robertson, and Loosemore all with multiple hits in the win.

  8. Sounds like Dale completely dominated SEG……but in baseball you find a way and SEG did!

  9. Dale=Great game against a great hitting team. (7-8 K’s). Ron Burgundy must have not been at the game and was in San Diego, b/c Will Greene Completely dominated SWG hitters as well (7-8K’s). In baseball you do have to find ways to win that would be a GREAT observation there, and BAIN did with a big Double late in te game. Thata Boy Bain! Great pitchers duel for a Non-Conf. game and great game to prepare both teams for what could come in the playoffs with very tight match ups. Ron Burgundy I like you! You sound like you know what your talking about! HAHA

  10. Congratulations to Lopaka on his game winning home-run against Western. It was a towering shot that took a long time to come down. Everyone on both teams were holding their breath because the wind was blowing toward the foul line in right field. But the best part was the big smile on the young man’s face as he was greeted by his teammates…..priceless.

Not bad for a left-handed pitcher headed to Brevard College. The Whirlies do not have an attractive record but they have 4-5 boys that will be playing baseball at the next level. Good Luck to all the Grimsley boys going forward.
