Early lead not enough for the Twins, as they drop the 3-1 decision to the Bulldogs…The Twins
jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 3-1 to the Bulldogs
on Saturday. A two-run home run by Cal Sutphin (Pfeiffer Univ.) gave the Bulldogs the
lead in the fourth inning. Brennen James (UNCG) recorded the win for the Bulldogs. He
allowed one run over four innings. He struck out six, walked four and surrendered
one hit. The Bulldogs were sparked by Sutphin and Johnny Brown (Pfeiffer Univ), who
teamed up for five hits and two RBIs. Bulldogs closer Zack Joyce (App State) put away
the final nine outs to record the save. In the third inning, the Twins pushed across
their only run of the day on a steal of home by James Johnson. The Bulldogs never
trailed after scoring three runs in the fourth on a two-run home run by Sutphin and
a sacrifice fly by Macon Smith (Guilford College).

Twins falls 7-1 to Bulldogs despite Simmons’ effort…..The Twins collected five hits, but
the Twins fell 7-1 to the Bulldogs at Glenn High school on Sunday. Hasteen Simmons
reached base two times in the game for the Twins. He singled in the fourth
inning. Tyler Boone (NC A & T) got the win for the Bulldogs. He pitched four shutout
innings. He struck out five, walked one and surrendered two hits. The Bulldogs’ Andre
McKoy (NC A & T), Eric Kalbfleisch (UNCG) and Josh Clark (Wingate) combined for six
hits and five RBIs. Bulldogs closer Joe Watson (Catawba) put away the final nine outs
to record the save. The Bulldogs didn’t relinquish the lead after scoring two runs in
the first inning when they scored on a two-run single by Cal Sutphin (Pfeiffer). The
Bulldogs increased their lead with five runs in the fourth. A double by McKoy ignited
the offense,, scoring Johnny Brown. That was followed up by Clark’s three-run home
run, scoring McKoy and Dario Little (NC A & T).The sixth inning saw the Twins score
their only run on the day on an error.
