Pride quarterback Ryan Throndset and wide receiver Antwan Thorpe were named to the D3football.com National Team of the Week on Tuesday. Both players rewrote the school and conference record books in a thrilling 31-27 victory over LaGrange on Saturday.
Throndset threw for 598 yards and four touchdowns in the win. His numbers for passing yards, pass attempts (59), completions (38) and total offense (599) set new conference bests. Throndset also surpassed the season record for most completions with 227. For his efforts, he was named the USA South Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Thorpe also a huge day for Greensboro, hauling in 22 passes for 391 yards and three touchdowns. His totals for receptions and receiving yards both eclipsed the previous conference record. In addition, he broke the USA South season record for total receiving yards with 1,270.

Thorpe was the recipient of all four passes, including the 13-yard game winner with 17 seconds left on the clock.
The duo’s accomplishments mark the first time in school history that a pair of Pride football players have garned national honors in the same week. The last Greensboro College football player to be named to the D3football.com National Team of the Week was linebacker Allen Stallings on October 31, 2011.
The Pride wrapped up year one of the Bill Young era on Saturday with an overall record of 5-5, just the second .500 finish in the program’s 13-year history.
