High School Basketball Tonight for 12/4/12

*****Most all of your games will start with the girls at 6pm and the boys will follow at around 7:30…..*****

Southern Durham at Smith
Southeast Guilford at Northwest Guilford
Southwest Guilford at Western Guilford
Northeast Guilford at Northern Guilford
High Point Central at Southern Guilford
High Point Andrews at Lexington
River Mill at Eastern Guilford
Vandalia Christian at Friendship Christian in Raleigh
New Hope Christian at Wesleyan
Ravenscroft at High Point Christian
American Hebrew Academy at Trinity Christian of Durham

*****Not sure which game to attend tonight, but I am leaning toward hitting Southeast Guilford at Northwest Guilford….Girls might turn into something and I have not yet seen the NWG boys this season, with Cody Hylton and Nick Powell…SEG girls have a real strong four in their Top Five, with Hailey, Upshaw, Shutt, Uffman and there is Phifer right in there too…SEG girls should contend for Metro 4-A Title….SEG boys will need a real bounce-back tonight, after getting drubbed by Southwest last Friday night….Couple of freshmen on the SEG boys team to keep an eye on and Big Mike Bass is a load on the inside…..Diandre Overton is one of the SEG Falcon freshman and he had 13 points vs. SWG last Friday night….

The SWG Cowboys have the kid who might be the strongest guard in the county, in Terrell Leach….Leach can do it all and he might lead all of the county guards in scoring this season….KJ Langley, the Cowboys point guard, is one of the smoothest guards in the county….Ben Ferguson, also from SWG, has one of the sweetest strokes from three-point range, that you will see this season….Ferguson can nail it and he is a very proficient three-point corner popper…..

The Western Guilford girls have been a bit of a mild surprise after losing top players Brittany Clency and Carnique Marks off of last year’s team….Western has become relevant again this year and they are consistent….

The NEG boys should wear out Northern this evening with Mohammad Tijani, Grant Griffin and Anfernee Ellis leading the way….If and when NG gets TJ Logan in that Nighthawk lineup, that will greatly enhance the Nighthawks’ chances…Look for the Nighthawk ladies with Amanda Coffer up front to roll against the Ram women…Just one of those things and it will go that way….

The Southern girls should not have to worry too much about the HP Central girls tonight, but Coach Ben Free saw his Bison ladies hit for 12 points last evening at Grimsley and the Bison are getting better, they are just light years away from 20 points in a game right now…Saw SG Storm boys coach Greg Thompson at the HPC-Grimsley game last night and he will have his Strom ready to face a Bison boys bunch that is hard to predict….The Bison have talent, but will it all come together??? Juwan Foggie and Germaine Pratt can be counted on to contribute, but will they get the help that they need???

Andrews girls should keep on motoring, as they pull into Lexington tonight and on the private school side, Vandalia will get a real test in Raleigh at Friendship and Raleigh Ravenscroft will be at HPCA and the Raleigh Ravenscroft Ravens are always tough, just look back to the Ryan Kelly(Duke) days at the RRR and beyond…..New Hope Christian boys might give Wesleyan a little run for their money, but not in the girls game, no way in there…Coach Shaw and Coach Delaney Rudd working hard to find new hope each day….

Will be looking for many of you at one of our key games tonight…..Will it be SEG at NWG, SWG at WG, NEG at NG, HPC at SG, or one of our private school settings….

  1. Dudley beat northeast by 20 in a scrimmage so northeast isnt legit this year. However Dudley is they are forreal and everyone will see that.

  2. Western 47
    SW 55

Western was up by 8 at the half but their 2 starting post players got in foul trouble and were fouled out in the 3rd.

SW doesn’t have size but they are very quick and run disciplined plays.

Western hung tough including two big 3s from their freshman late in the game. But SW was in double bonus what seemed like almost the entire 2nd half and consistently hit their free throws.

Hitting free throws and staying out of foul trouble is big part of the game and SW got it done.
