TIMCO Tournament starts on Wednesday at the Greensboro Coliseum Special Events Center

We will be looking at the games in more detail starting tomorrow(Wednesday) and going in, do you see any potential upsets coming on Wednesday???

Boys Day One games:
#1 Greensboro Day vs. #8 Grimsley at 3pm
#4 Northwest Guilford vs. #5 Ragsdale at 4:30pm
#6 Smith vs. #3 Page at 6:30pm
#7 Northern Guilford vs. #2 Northeast Guilford at 8pm

*****Looks like Northern Guilford has a chance to pull the upset with T.J. Logan now in their lineup….Smith has been playing solid ball and the Golden Eagles have a shot to upset Page….Smith played Dudley to the wire, last Tuesday night at Smith….Page needs to get defensive stopper Carter Stanley back in there….Missed last Friday night’s loss at NEG…Thinking Stanley out with injury….

Ragsdale could pull the wool on NWG, but not if Cody Hylton and Nick Powell are hitting from outside…They have had the hot hands for NWG early-on this season and the Keefer kid, plus Drew Harper have given the Vikings a spark recently and they always get steady performances from Colson Everett, Hampton Billups, Josh Beitz, Kevin Parrish and Jalen Gore…..Ragsdale will need to get real good start in this game, if NWG comes our hot, they are a hard team to catch….

Don’t see any way that the Grimsley boys can stay with Greensboro Day School..GDS just too strong and experienced for the Whirlies and Grimsley would to have a perfect game to win and it is very tough to have that perfect game, coming right out of a holiday break….A couple years ago, Northwest got GDS in Round One, when GDS was #1 and NWG was #8….That doesn’t happen very often, but that same year, I think it was 2009, #7 Northern Guilford also upset #2 Northeast Guilford in Round One….

On the girls end the Page Pirates are the favorites and they should see a strong challenge coming from the Greensboro Day School with Thorpe, Rogers, Spurr, Adkinson and the big young lady, Christinna Hairston, #44, could be a BIG key for GDS….Amanda Coffer, Sydney Wilson, Gabby Boyd, Aliyah Grinage and others lead the nine from NG….Strong five from Page with Johnson, Kea, Coleman, Barnes and Kargo…Others providing help coming in off of the bench with Pegram, Casper and others…

The top group from the Greensboro Day School boys can be tough to stay with, with Reggie Dillard, John Terry, Reed Lucas, Christian Hairston and Montrell Goldston…

  1. Even though the 1st day match ups seem out of reach, a lot can be said about a team fighting to stay alive with the other team taking them lightly. The day 2 match ups look really good. The Page girls should walk into the finals with no problem.

  2. Northeast boys will definitely win tonight and prove that the last game in Summerfield which was the poorest officiated game I have witnessed was a fluke to be that close. TJ might help some but that is a very poor shooting team. Will talk about beating Page for the 3rd straight time and Greensboro day when that time comes.
