Game Report on Eastern Guilford at Morehead baseball from Friday night

Eastern Guilford travels to Eden to take on the Panthers of Morehead in a Mid State 3A conference matchup. Eastern puts together 10 hits to win their first conference game winning 11-2 behind a good pitching performance by Andrew Robinson.

In the first two innings it was pretty quiet for both teams. In the 3rd inning Eastern would load the bases on 2 errors and a base hit. Then Caleb Robinson would deliver a 3 run double to deep centerfield. In the bottom half Morehead would get a single, walk, & pass ball to put runners on 2nd and 3rd base then an error would bring them both home to pull Morehead to within 1 run. No action in the 4th inning for either team. The top of the 5th inning Eastern Guilford would plate 3 more Wildcat runners on a single and 2 run home run from Caleb Robinson then a walk and an error to score Marque Johnson. Starting pitcher for Morehead Spencer Odell would get out of a bases loaded jam in the 6th inning but would give up 6 more hits in the top of 7th allowing 5 more runners to score. Andrew Robinson would pitch a complete game giving up 4 hits, 10 K’s, and 1 earned run.

  1. Whats the story with the Panthers this year. Usually a good 3A team. Are they young because I know they lost some talent from last year.
