NCCSIA Announces 2012-13 North Carolina University Division All-State Women’s Basketball Team

The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) announced its selections for the 2012-13 University Division All-State Women’s Basketball Teams on Tuesday. Ten players representing seven different North Carolina Universities were named to the 2012-13 NCCSIA University Division All-State Teams.

All five first-team honorees are seniors originally from North Carolina.

Charlotte was the only school with multiple representatives on the first team as senior forwards Jennifer Hailey and Amanda Dowe both earned a spot. Hailey was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Year and earned Mid-Major All-America honors from FullCourt.com. She averaged 15.5 points and 11.4 rebounds while posting 2.6 blocks per game. Dowe also averaged a double-double with 11 points and 11.7 rebounds and was named to the All-A10 third team.

East Carolina guard Celeste Stewart averaged 11.6 points and 4.1 assists to earn a spot on the first-team. She was also a first-team All-Conference USA honoree.

Senior guard Ali Ford from Elon collected All-State first team honors for the third-straight year. She graduated in second place on the program’s all-time leading scorer list with 2,020 points, averaging 15.8 per game in her final season. Ford also averaged 4.1 assists per game in 2012-13.

Anna Freeman, a senior forward from Appalachian State, is the final member of the first team. She averaged 16.5 points per game and is a four-time All-SoCon selection.

The NCCSIA All-State second team is compromised of UNC Wilmington’s Karneisha Garrett, Campbell’s Kiera Gaines and Tonisha Baker, Elon’s Kelsey Evans and North Carolina A&T’s JaQuayla Berry.

Nominees were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals and voted on by the NCCSIA members.

Founded in 2002, The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The purpose of the organization is to promote collegiate athletics at all schools. Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university or conference located in North Carolina, and whose area of responsibility lies within sports information.
