K.J. Choi, Tim Clark, Camilo Villegas Join Wyndham Championship Field

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Former Wyndham winner K.J. Choi, NC State alumnus Tim Clark and fan favorite Camilo Villegas have all joined the Wyndham Championship field, it was announced today. The 74th annual Wyndham Championship is set for Aug. 12-18, 2013.

These players join a field that also includes commitments from defending champion Sergio Garcia, reigning FedExCup champion and 2007 Wyndham winner Brandt Snedeker, 2011 Wyndham winner and 2012 U.S. Open champion Webb Simpson, Wyndham winners Davis Love III and Carl Pettersson as well as former major winners Vijay Singh, Zach Johnson, David Toms, Lucas Glover, Stewart Cink and Mike Weir and European stars Padraig Harrington, Martin Kaymer and Paul Casey.

Choi won the Wyndham in 2005. This year’s tournament will mark Choi’s eighth here but his first since 2009. The South Korea native is 63rd in the current FedExCup point standings and 99th in the Official World Golf Rankings. He has eight PGA TOUR wins and nine international wins. A very popular player in the Piedmont Triad, Choi’s best 2013 finish came in the Valero Texas Open when he finished sixth. After his 2005 Wyndham win, he donated $90,000 to the Korean Presbyterian Church in Greensboro that he attends when he plays the tournament.

Clark was the runner-up at last year’s rain-delayed Wyndham Championship – it was his third top-10 finish in six Wyndham championship appearances; he is 13th in career Wyndham Championship earnings with $951,321. Clark is 53rd in the current FedExCup point standings and 54th in the Official World Golf Rankings. He finished second at the Sony Open in Hawaii for his best finish of the season.

Villegas will make his third-consecutive Wyndham Championship appearance and his fourth overall. He finished tied for ninth in 2011 for his best finish here. A native of Medellin, Columbia, Villegas is a fan favorite in the Piedmont Triad. He is 113th in the current FedExCup point standings and 256th in the Official World Golf Rankings. He finished tied for ninth at the RBC Heritage for his best finish of the season.
