  1. Good luck to all the Guilford County teams starting their state play offs today. I saw where South Caldwell who plays Page has a 2 win 20 loss record. How do you make states with that record? Wouldn’t it be better to shorten the playoff so it doesn’t cut into spring sports?

  2. Last week someone said the private school route to the championship was easier with only 4 rounds. Help me understand how the public school route is so much harder with 6 rounds when you have so many schools with sub 500 wins throughout the year. Nearly all of the teams from 24-32 in both the east and west have losing records. They should give the top quarter teams a bye in the 1st round and just don’t invite those teams 10 or more games below 500. We know why they do – mo’ money. I am glad that at least our local teams actually have good records and we don’t have any teams in the playoffs that actually suck.

  3. thats still more games to win. Anybody can beat anybody. Page is getting tough games from teams like grimsley. Do 13 seeds beat 4 seeds in March Madness? Absoultely. The more games you play the harder it is. Its simple

  4. In split conference, they take the #1 and #2 in the in their classification. If there is only 2 – 4A teams, in a split 3A/4A conference, they are both guarenteed a spot regardless of the record. I believe this is the case with South Caldwell and Watuaga. South Caldwell is dead last in their conference but are the #2 – 4A team in the conference.

  5. Split 4-A/3-A Conference with only two 4-A teams and the top two 4-A and 3-A qualify and here comes South Caldwell to Page tonight to face the #1 seeded Pirate men…If only South Caldwell still had Madison Bumgarner, maybe he could throw some long baseball passes…

So much for those split conferences….

  6. 9 Girls teams survive Day 1.
SE, Dudley , and Eastern Guilford win on the road.

5 Boys teams survive Day 1.

  7. After the 1st two games the following teams will be out, Northwest, Ragsdale, Dudley, Northeast, Eastern and South Guilford. These teams will still be playing next week: Southeast, Southwest, Page, Northern, HP Andrew and Bishop.

  8. Boys – After the 1st two games the following teams will be out, Dudley, SW, Grimsley, Ragsdale and Smith. These teams will still be playing next week: Page, East Forsyth, NW, Northern and Bishop.

  9. Needless to say, this state tournament has too many marginal teams making the tournament. Too many 500 winning % & below. I wish all the teams best of luck.
