Kinston(23-2) has the experience edge on the High Point Andrews Red Raiders, as the women enter tonight’s Round One East Regional game, in Fayetteville….

HP Andrews coach John Shearin talked with Bryan C. Hanks, of the Kinston Free Press, about his Lady Raiders and where their experience/success comes from…..from Bryan C. Hanks by way of www.wralsportsfan.com……
Shearin, in his fourth year as the Red Raiders head coach, said his team’s success hasn’t come overnight.

“This started when my freshmen came in four years ago,” said Shearin, whose team enters tonight’s game with a 22-5 record. “We’ve been working hard and doing all the right things, from inside the classroom and trying to be good people and good student-athletes. We’re pushing toward a common goal.”

While the Kinston girls’ basketball team will be making its fourth consecutive appearance in an NCHSAA Regional tonight, their opponent — High Point Andrews — is in the Regional for the first time in 17 years.

*****Hanks has hit the home run on this one and let’s hope the home team from High Point, finds a way to make a big dent in that Kinston club with their wealth of talent tonight…..We know Coach Shearin and his girls can do it, they just have to go out and get it done……..*****

  1. We are not worried about Kinston. 32 minutes of hell. Now Trinity and Reidsville need to be worried.

  2. from Michael Lindsay at hpe.com and by way of Twitter:

Michael Lindsay @HPEmichael On the way to Fayetteville. I’ll have updates on Trinity boys and Andrews girls throughout the evening.
