Special to GreensboroSports.com:
Teams: Northeast, Dudley, North Forsyth, Enloe (from Raleigh), High Point Andrews
Notes from Dudley vs High Point Andrews:
Dudley defense comes out a little slow but holds Andrews from scoring. Goal line secondary defense looks stingy. Trae Meadows- Senior Corner/Safety ( offers from Elon and UNCC) has INT. Dudley offense scores off of TD pass…..
TD pass from 2017 QB Hendon Hooker to 2015 RB/FS Darius Graves. Graves with good hands. Hooker goes 9-15, 3 TDs vs Andrews. 2016 Slot/QB Jayden Maynor with a TD catch and 2016 RB/Slot Connell Young caught long bomb from Hooker. Dudley backs ( Graves, Young, Knight) good receivers too. Hooker did good job spraying to various receivers. Good Qb pedigree ( father Alan Hooker Black College Hall of Fame and record setter at NC A&T).
Dudley defensive secondary is led by Meadows and 2016 DB/SS/RB Simeon Gatling. Gatling (interest from Duke, Miss St., Clemson, Furman, Appalachian St.) had a big day overall. 2 ints, numerous passes defended/broken up. Meadows is 3yr starter with good range/length and maturity. He and Gatling will give receivers a long day all year. Dudley coaches coaching as if it’s playoff season. Extremely intense and instructional. They expect high execution and accept nothing less. HC- Davis, D-Coordinator Anderson preaching perfection to defense. Dudley won this matchup 3-1
Dudley vs Enloe notes:
Very good defensive matchup. Dudley DBs numerous break ups, knock downs. Dudley LBs O.C., Nigel(freshman) Cromartie, Moody, Pat (freshman) effective . Stops Enloe offense first series.
Dudley offense comes with Hooker going 7-13, 2 TDs, one to Jayden Maynor and one to 2015 WR Christian Coakley. Jayden Maynor also went 8-9, 2TDs, one to Darius Graves and one to Connell Young.
Enloe offense does score 2 tds on Dudley defense ( one vs reserves). This contest became extremely testy! Both sides really digging into each other. Enloe defensive secondary led by DB Frederick Brown who showed a lot of moxie and good sportsmanship. He was doing a lot of coaching up to his teammates too.
Dudley won 4 tds – 2 tds
Northeast vs North Forsyth notes:
Defensive secondary led by 2015 Safety/DB Malik Bunton-leader. They have fearsome GIANTS on offense! #6 whose 6’5″, plays TE/DE and moves well for his size. #1 plays DE/WR is also 6’5″ and is physical. #7 is 6’3″ and plays WR.
North Forsyth led by #15 Derrick Williams, a 2016 DB/WR who caught numerous TDs, defended well from Corner position, and didn’t come off the field for them. NF won this matchup.
Dudley vs North Forsyth notes:
Dudley won a tight matchup. Both teams played more reserves in this game. 2018 DJ Crossen look promising with a pick. Also has good length. Tyree Knight also had nice TD catch out of backfield.
Thanks for the update
Ready for some “real” AMERICAN football
Go Panthers !!
I wouldn’t put someone’s stats on here for 7 on 7 especially if they were only 7 for 13. Not very good passing percentage for 7 on 7
Any word on EG-Smith????
Who is the Gatling kid was unsuccessful finding any kind of statistics on him?
Not much info here about Offense on both teams. Mainly about defense. Wish it would be more balanced
Alan Hooker was also a Heisman nominee while at A&T. His son is young and will get better with experience. Dudley has big shoes to fill
