CAA Releases Volleyball Preseason Predictions

RICHMOND, Va. – The Colonial Athletic Association released its 2014 volleyball preseason poll today, August 19. Elon earned 16 points and was predicted to finish ninth, according to a vote by the league’s head coaches.

Reigning CAA champion, and former Southern Conference foe, College of Charleston was picked first with six first-place votes and 62 total points. Following the Cougars in the poll were James Madison (52 points), Northeastern (48 points), Hofstra (37 points), UNC Wilmington (36 points), Delaware (35 points), Towson (23 points), William & Mary (20 points) and Elon (16 points).

Last season, the Phoenix finished the year 16-17 (7-9 SoCon) and advanced to the SoCon tournament for the fourth straight season. This year, Elon returns 12 letterwinners and five starters, including all-state honoree Kris Harris and all-freshman selection Ally Karle. Head coach Mary Tendler begins her 12th season at the helm of the Phoenix program, while Elon enters its first season as a member of the CAA.
