College Men’s Soccer – Case Western Reserve 4, Guilford 0

DELAWARE, OHIO – Guilford College dropped a non-conference contest to Case Western Reserve University Friday evening, 4-0. The contest was part of the Fred Meyers Adidas Invitational, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University.

The Spartans jumped out to the lead, 2-0, in the first half with goals from Michael Balog (ninth minute) and Matthew Zembas (23rd minute). Balog picked up his second point on the night with an assist on Zembas’ goal. Case Western Reserve increased their lead in the second half with two goals in 2:20, led by Joshua Prosser’s second point of the evening off a goal in the 76th minute.

The Spartans held the advantage over the Quakers in shots, 21-11, and corner kicks, 10-1. Christian Torres (Greensboro, N.C./Southeast Guilford) lead the Quakers with three shots.

Marko Mandalinic made three saves in net for the Quakers. Case Western Reserve’s Thomas Nolan made three saves before being relieved by Calvin Boyle for the final 10:57 of the contest.

The Quakers (0-3) conclude their weekend on the Fred Meyers Adidas Invitational tomorrow evening, playing tournament host Ohio Wesleyan University at 7:30 p.m.
