from the Hinds, Mississippi Community College athletics web site:

The Hinds Community College Eagles got back on the winning track Thursday night in Raymond, defeating Northwest Community College, 31-17, in non-conference action.

Hinds moved to 3-2 overall (1-1 in the South), while Northwest fell to 1-4 overall (1-1 in the North).

Hinds would enter the halftime locker room up 10-7, but the lead would soon be extended when quarterback James Summers (Greensboro, N.C.) scrambled in from eight yards out for the score. The Houston PAT was perfect and the Eagles now led, 17-7, with 10:15 left in the third quarter.

Summers would push the Hinds lead to 24-7, but this time it was through the air. The sophomore quarterback connected with wide receiver Jahmmir Taylor (College Park, Ga.) on a 16-yard TD pass with 7:22 remaining in the third period.

Summers finished the game with 150 yards and two touchdowns on 17 rushing attempts and was 9-17 for 114 yards and one touchdown.

Hinds will now return to action this Thursday night, hosting East Central Community College in a 6:30 p.m. matchup at Joe Renfroe Stadium in Raymond.
