Northwest Guilford against Grimsley (26-13)

Thomas Hennigan, a sophomore, helped Northwest Guilford win the game on Friday, September 26th against Grimsley High School. Thomas had three touchdowns, 7 receptions, 72 receiving yards and 12 rushing yards.

Words from Coach Rolfes: “Thomas has established himself as one of the most productive players in the area. He has been our top offensive performer on the season and week to week. He is regarded in the classroom as a top notch student, outstanding leader, and is well-respected by the coaching staff and his teammates. Thomas comes from an excellent family with strong moral and faith based values. Thomas is the kind of kid that gets other people around him to play better. I think he is well deserving of this award. He has had bigger “number” weeks in terms of yards receiving, etc. but this week he contributed in so many ways. Friday he had two rushing TD’s on 3 carries and 1 TD reception.”

Info on Award: The Bob Sawyer Award began in the fall of 2013 for Guilford County High School football players. This award is in honor of long-time coach, athletic director and Greensboro Rotarian, Bob Sawyer, who remains a legend in North Carolina high school athletics. Leading Grimsley High School’s swimming teams to 16 consecutive championships and an unprecedented 15 straight NCHSAA state titles, Sawyer was inducted into the East Carolina University Hall of Fame in 1974, and was enshrined in the NC High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 1995.
