The #7 seed Northern Guilford back home and hosting #12 seed Chapel Hill in Round Four of the NCHSAA 3-AA East Playoffs this evening at Johnny Roscoe Stadium….
We will be there with our GreensboroSports Radio crew including Dennis White and Mr. White will have NG Coach Roscoe and Chapel Hill Tiger Coach Issac Marsh prior to the game with the Dennis White interview feature and Don Moore will other scores for us and you back here at the site…..Lots of games going on around the state of North Carolina with NCHSAA football playoffs in full force, but Northern Guilford is our lone remaining Guilford County team, still in the hunt and one of the crazy things is, the Nighthawks will not be playing Wilson Hunt this evening…..The ‘Hawks faced Hunt three straight years in 2010, 2011 and 2012, on their way to three consecutive NCHSAA 3-AA Titles….The East finals were NG-Hunt, but no coach Randy Raper and Hunt in this one and the Nighthawks will go to work on Chapel Hill, a team that Northern jumped on 43-zip back in Round Two of the 2012 playoffs at NG….
We will start talking about this one with Dennis White at around 6:45 tonight here at GreensboroSports Radio….Kickoff coming at 7:30pm for Northern Guilford(13-1) and Chapel Hill(11-3)….
A few nuggets that we can chew as work our way up to kickoff tonight…….And we did preview parts of the Chapel Hill Tigers plan here at the site last night….
Today’s notes and nuggets….
Northern Guilford is averaging 409 yards per game on offense….Nighthawks go with 195.7 yards per game passing and 213.3 yards per game rushing….The NG defense has picked off/intercepted 27 passes with Cam Harris, Mook Reynolds, Tucker Hord, Dwaine Norcott and others back there…The Nighthawk defense has accumulated 54 sacks so far this year….Tre Marsh with 11 sacks, Nick Fryer with 10 sacks and Jeremiah McCoy with 8 sacks….Cam Harris with 10 interceptions and 50 pass deflections, plus Tucker Hord with 6 interceptions and 50 pass deflections…..
Northern with Points for on Offense:605 points
Northern with Points against on Defense:185 points
NG QB Cam Harris is averaging 22 yards per completion and has passed for 29 TD’s on the season, against just 5 interceptions…
NG WR Mook Reynolds is averaging 25 yards per reception and has caught 44 passes, with 13 of the 44 resulting in touchdowns and that is a very high percentage of TD’s per catch…..
NG RB C.J. Freeman has 1,782 yards rushing and 24 TD’s, plus Freeman is picking up 8.8 yards per each tote/carry….
*****Harris, Reynolds and Freeman have combined for over 6,000 yards of total offense this season….*****
$$$$$The edge must go to Northern since they have been there and done that/this so many times before under head coach Johnny Roscoe. If NG comes out red-hot and ready, we could see a similar result to what we saw back in 2012. NG lives and fuels its offensive attack off of early strikes and scores, plus putting points on the scoreboard right before halftime…..$$$$$
