GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford College placed ninth at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Women’s Swimming Championships Sunday at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. The Quakers scored 104 points in the nine-team field.
Washington and Lee University claimed the league title with 936 points, over 200 points better than second-place Emory & Henry College. Randolph-Macon College placed third, followed by Sweet Briar College.
Guilford freshman Isabel Gutierrez turned in the Quakers’ top individual performance at the three-day meet with a 15th-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke in two minutes, 46.85 seconds. Her time is the third-fastest in school history and nearly a second faster than her preliminary time, which is fifth-best all-time at Guilford.
While Guilford failed to advance any swimmers to the finals in the 100 freestyle, all four Quakers’ contestants posted the fastest times of their college careers: Morgan McKinnon, Caitlin Young, Alex Barbour and Jocelyn Gesner. McKinnon’s time of 1:05.53 ranked 18th, two spots shy of a spot in the B final.
The meet marked the conclusion of the season for coach Emily Wilson’s team.
