College Women’s Lacrosse News – Guilford’s Bailey Named ODAC Player of the Week

FOREST, Va. –Guilford College senior Marina Bailey (Rockville, Md./Thomas S. Wootton) picked up the first 2016 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week Award Monday. The recognition marks the first of her career.

Bailey, a 5-6 midfielder, scored a career-high five goals in the Quakers’ 12-10 season-opening victory over visiting Methodist University Saturday. Guilford trailed early, but Bailey scored twice in the closing minutes to narrow the halftime deficit to two. Bailey scored again two-and-a-half minutes into the second half, triggering a 5-0 Quakers’ run that put them ahead for good. Bailey also recovered three ground balls and won three draw controls.

Coach Sarah Lamphier’s Quakers visit Meredith College Thursday (2/25) before returning home to face the University of Mary Washington on Sunday (2/28) at 4:00 p.m.
