Elon Men’s Golf Moves into Top-10 at Loyola Intercollegiate

GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The Elon University men’s golf team moved into the top-10 after the second round of action of the Loyola Intercollegiate on Monday, Feb. 29, at Palm Valley Golf Club.

The Phoenix moved up to a tied for 10th overall after the team was in 11th after day one. Elon finished 4-over par (292) in the second round. Arkansas State leads with a 36-hole score of 560 (-16) heading into the final round.

Highlights
Freshman Philip Loeb remained in the top-10 individually in a tie for ninth place, has a two-round total of 139 (-5) and is just five strokes behind the leader Tanner Napier of Arkansas State.

In addition to Loeb, Jared Mactas moved up into a tie for 27th after a second round 73 (+2) on Monday as is at even par for the tournament. Jake Leavitt, competing as an individual for the Phoenix, made massive strides on day two improving his first round score by 10 strokes. Leavitt scored a 68 (-3) in the second round to move to 2-over after 36 holes.

Jonathan DiIanni turned in his card after day two with a 36-hole total of 147 (+3) heading into the final round. Troy Beaver heading into the last day with a 36-hole total of 150 and Charlie May has a score of 151 at Palm Valley Golf Club.
