College Men’s Tennis Final – Va. Wesleyan 8, Guilford 1

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Host Virginia Wesleyan College claimed an 8-1 Old Dominion Athletic Conference men’s tennis victory over visiting Guilford College Sunday.

The Marlins (1-1, 1-0 ODAC) won all three doubles matches, two by matching scores of 8-4. Graham Wilson and Adam Rosenblaum topped the Quakers’ Erik Meiler and Mesa Martorell at first doubles. Drew Tomajczyk and Brendan Kelleher knocked off Guilford’s Levi Bruff and Mason Church by the same 8-4 score.

The singles matches were fairly close, with three contests determined by tiebreakers. Tomajczyk downed the Quakers’ Aaron Smedley at fourth singles, 6-0, 3-6, 7-6 (7-4). Tyler Chang defeated Guilford’s John Brvenik 6-7 (4-7), 7-5, 10-8 at sixth singles. The Quakers claimed their lone point on Bruff’s 6-3, 3-6, 10-3 win over the Marlins’ Spenser Bullock.
