Four High Point University Women’s Basketball players garner All-Big South accolades

Four Panthers garner All-Big South accolades

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Junior Kaylah Keys was selected to the All-Big South Second Team, the league office announced on Tuesday. Freshman Emma Bockrath was runner-up in the Freshman of the Year voting as the High Point University women’s basketball team saw four student-athletes earn postseason awards.

Freshman Haleigh Hatfield joined Bockrath on the All-Freshmen Team while sophomore Kat Harris represents High Point on the All-Academic squad.

Kaylah Keys | Junior | Guard | Southaven, Miss.
Keys led the Big South in scoring with 14.9 points per game this season. The guard knocked down 56 three-pointers in 2015-16 to rank among the league’s top four long-range shooters for the third straight season.

The Southaven, Miss. native is the active scoring leader in the conference with 1,451 career points and ranks 25th all-time in the league’s history. Keys was the 2013-14 Big South Freshmen of the Year and was picked on the first team that season.

Emma Bockrath | Freshman | Guard | Dayton, Ohio
The Dayton, Ohio product led all Big South freshmen in minutes, steals (1.4 spg) and assists (2.5 apg). She also finished second among league newcomers in scoring (10.4 ppg) and fifth in rebounding (4.3 rpg).

Bockrath was named Big South Freshman of the Week three times this season, which tied for the league lead. She rounded on the regular season on a tear scoring in double figures in each of the last six contests including a 26-point outing at Charleston Southern.

Haleigh Hatfield | Freshman | Forward | Winston-Salem, N.C.
The Panthers’ stretch-four led the team and was third among conference freshmen with 5.5 rebounds per outing. She finished the season averaging 7.2 points per game and with 27 made three-pointers – the second-most among first-year players.

Hatfield won Big South Freshman of the Week twice in successive weeks while posting two of her four double-doubles on the year.

Kat Harris | Sophomore | Guard | Charlotte, N.C.
Harris earned her first selection to the Big South All-Academic Team after posting 9.9 points per game. She carries a 3.14 GPA majoring in human relations. The guard is coming of back-to-back career highs scoring 19 points against Campbell on March 1 and UNC Asheville on March 5.
