John Patterson named head football coach at High Point Andrews High School

John Patterson, a 1976 T.W, Andrews graduate, has been named the Red Raiders football coach. He is the ninth coach in program history.

Others include Bob Boswell, Herb Goins, David Mizzell, Craig Gill, Derek Anderson, Rodney McKoy, and will need to hit my research button and find the other three for you…Maybe Coach Casazza(John) was another one at TWA, but I don’t remember his first name, but now I do think it was John….

More on John Patterson and more on HPA when I get on my other computer in the morning…

T. Wingate Andrews High School has named John Patterson head coach for the Red Raider Football Program, making him the 9th coach in the schools 48-year history.

Patterson, a native of High Point, is a 1976 graduate of Andrews and served as a captain of the 1976 State Championship team. He brings to this position 30 years of experience as a teacher, coach and athletic administrator at the high school and college levels. He most recently served as the offensive coordinator at Stratford High School in Goose Creek, SC.

“The vision that Coach Patterson shared with us during our search emphasized character development through academics, strength & conditioning, and service leadership,” said Andrews Principal David Miller. “He is an excellent coach and outstanding person who will help us continue to build on the rich tradition of excellence at T. W Andrews High School.”

Coach Patterson will be introduced to the football team on Friday, March 11th at 2:45 pm followed by a 3 pm press conference in the media center with the Red Raiders families, alumni, friends and community members. The press conference is open to the public.

  1. Boswell, Shook (spelling?), Goins, Gill, Casazza, Metcalf, Mizell, Anderson, McKoy, Patterson.

  2. Yes thank-you for those names and I do think Schuck’s son was a basketball player at Ragsdale, David Schuck and he later played college basketball at Navy and UNCG…

Either Mr. Schuck or Mr. Casazza were AD’s at Ragsdale…

    That Metcalf name escaped me…

  3. Let me correct myself: Boswell, Morris, Goins, Gill, Casazza, Metcalf, Mizell, Anderson, McKoy, Patterson.

  4. Yes and I think Casazza was the QB for the old Greensboro Redskins semipro football team back in 70’s…Lots of history with those men and was Morris, John Morris from Reidsville???
