The 4th Annual 8th Grade All-Star Basketball Games Tonight, at Ben L. Smith High School

The 4th annual 8th Grade All-Star Games will take place at Ben L. Smith High School Saturday, March 12, 2016. Scholar-Athletes will have a full day of activities that includes breakfast, lunch and a series of speakers. Former NC State standout, Page High School graduate and now banker for Carolina Bank, Ann Marie Dloniak will share financial literacy tips along with her storied relationship with the game of basketball. Scholar-athletes will learn about the new NCAA Eligibility rules and how social media can effect the recruiting efforts. Kevin Graves, a known basketball coach/trainer in the area and biological father of Ty Graves (future Boston College Eagle), will share words of wisdom to be great scholars-athletes and better human beings.

The scholar-athletes will also have a session with this year’s coaches which actually played in the 1st game back in 2013. The East Girls will be coached by Junior guard Tearra Johnson (Dudley High School) and Campbell Kargo who will be celebrating her birthday as well as doubling as the National Anthem singer. Both of these young ladies will be coaching their younger sibling.

The East Boys will be coached by Jordan Perkins (Greensboro Day) along side one of his best friends Brendan Austin (HP Wesleyan).

The West Girls will be coached by Shachi’a Shalem (Greensboro Day) and basketball standout Amari Jackson.

The West Boys will be coached by Hendon Hooker (Dudley HS) and his middle school teammate Kameron Langley (Southwest Guilford).

Each of these individuals have modeled what it takes to make a successful transition from middle school to high school and excel at whatever they choose to do.

Girls will tip-off at 5:30 pm and Boys at 7:00 pm.
