Palmer won his first tournament of the season and the second of his career March 8 with a one-stroke victory at the TaylorMade-adidas Intercollegiate in Dataw Island, South Carolina. He helped Guilford clinch its first team title of the year and second TaylorMade crown in three seasons. Palmer shot one-under-par 71 and even-par 72 in the opening 36 holes to take a two-shot lead. He fired a one-over 73 in the final round and edged teammate Justin Perdue and Hampden-Sydney College’s Alex Simmons by a stroke for medalist honors. Palmer clinched the win with three pars on the final three holes and beat seven golfers rated ahead of him on the latest Golfstat.com Division III Head-to-Head Player Standings.

The win moved Palmer ahead of Perdue on the Quakers’ stroke average chart. Palmer averages 72.94 strokes per round in 16 rounds. He has five sub-par rounds and one even-par round to date. Palmer is ranked 57th in the March 9 Golfstat.com Division III Head-to-Head Player Rankings. He has four top-six finishes in six tournaments this season.

Coach Justin Tereshko’s Quakers, ranked 14th in the latest Division III Bushnell Golfweek Coaches’ Poll, played a tournament-style round with Transylvania University Tuesday in Florida before this weekend’s Jekyll Island Intercollegiate in Georgia.
