  1. If SW is 1st or 2nd in the first poll – there not even a top 10 team in County- it will only be based on their record. As a few people have said on here already they haven’t played anyone that is alive and breathing yet. Grimsley has no business even being close to a poll. Dudley should be close to being a #1. Got to look at quality wins and losses not just W’s.

  2. In a common poll you look for the overall wins and losses and in cases where teams might be tied record-wise, good idea there to look at head-to-head and strength of schedule and other factors like that…

If a team is Unbeaten the have to be ranked over a team that might be say (2-6)….In the end they it will all catch itself up toward playoff time….You to see teams in polls with losing records, no matter who they have been playing, but sometimes they will have to get to fill out the spots….

All a numbers game and you really have to look at the positive numbers on the W side at this stage of the game….Losing records do make your polls look ugly…You want as many winning records as you can find and then you have to pull out what you can from the teams with the losing records and you would hope that you would have at least 10 teams with winning records this early in the year, but that might not end up being the case…

It should be a fun experience and the die-hard killer call will happen when the kids hit college and the real polls roll in…

  3. If your going to post local area polls then you might as well include everyone in the area public or private. School athletics are cyclical whether public or private and that’s just the way it is. Look at NWG and Southeast. Those 2 teams have been loaded for the last few years but this season there is a drop off. Just happens. No team has an advantage because of any reason so lump them all together. Besides, whatever poll is put on here is always questioned and or criticized. I’ve watched all 5 of the below teams and this is my best attempt. Here’s my top 5.

    1. High Point Christian – North Davidson
    3. Dudley
    3. Southeast Guilford
    4. Wesleyan

I’ve personally not watched some of the others but what i’ve read, maybe they should not be in this poll anyway.

  4. Isn’t allowing a fifth year high school player a different rule? How about open transfers and allowed recruitment of players?

  5. @Truth…..You are really mislead but that’s to be expected. You make it sound like b/c you go to a private school that means everyone has reclassed. There is a huge difference between the top and bottom of Private school athletic’s. Are all the top teams 5th year seniors and the bottom teams are not? If a player tears an ACL or for whatever medical reason cannot play for the entire season, should that child not be allowed to play his or her 4 years? What about the small public school middle schoolers that are held back? Are they not technically the same age as a 5th year senior? What if these 5th year seniors need a little more help academically? Do you not want that for the child? Or is really that you know you would get waxed by a private team and to you that’s embarrassing. We private school parents applaud public schools that step forward to play because in the end, it’s about good competition right?
