Elon’s Braschi Earns CAA Women’s Tennis Co-Player of the Week Honor

RICHMOND, Va. – Elon University women’s tennis sophomore Erica Braschi has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Women’s Tennis Co-Player of the Week, today, March 22, as announced by the league office. She shares the honor with James Madison freshman Emma Petersen.

Braschi earned first-career CAA women’s tennis Player of the Week honor after recording a 2-0 mark at No. 2 singles in Elon’s victories over Charlotte (5-2) and College of Charleston (4-3). She clinched the win over Charlotte by pulling out a narrow 7-5, 7-6 (7-5) decision over Tai Martin.

The sophomore from Dorado, Puerto Rico also capped Elon’s dramatic comeback win over College of Charleston by rallying past Katherine Schofield, 6-4, 4-6, 7-5. She trailed 5-4 in the third set before taking the final three games as the Phoenix erased a 3-0 deficit in the match.

Currently riding a six-match winning streak, Braschi improved to 10-4 overall and leads the team in singles wins this season.

The Elon Phoenix returns to action on Thursday, March 31, as it hosts the Delaware Blue Hens for a 2 p.m. match at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
