Elon’s Sarrasague Named CAA Men’s Tennis Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – After completing a perfect week of singles action and clinching two Phoenix wins, Elon University men’s tennis freshman Felipe Sarrasague has been named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Week, today, March 22, as announced by the league office.

Sarrasague earned his first-career CAA men’s tennis Player of the Week honor after posting a 2-0 record at No. 2 singles in Elon’s victories over Davidson (6-1) and conference foe James Madison (7-0).

The freshman clinched the win against Davidson by beating Artem Khrapko, 6-3, 6-3. He also decided the match against JMU with a 6-2, 6-3 triumph over Brett Moorhead. Sarrasague has captured four straight matches and is now 8-5 this season.

The Phoenix has been on a roll recently. Elon, 11-4 overall this season, is currently on a four-match winning streak and has won nine of their last 10 contests.

After the conclusion of Elon’s match today at Coastal Carolina, the Phoenix will return to the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center next week on Tuesday, March 29, for an evening contest at 6 p.m. against UNCG.
